I ran mine straight from the panel, with the 10 gauge wire required for a 30 amp circuit, into a new 30 amp 220V breaker.

FYI:  Within a US household and associated typical run lengths:

14 gauge wire (often with a white covering) is rated for 15 amps
12 gauge wire (often with a yellow covering) is rated for 20 amps
10 gauge wire (typically with a black covering) is rated for 30 amps

voltage doesn't matter with regards to wire thickness - at least at the voltages we are talking about.

All of this, including how to install such a circuit, is available in a ~$10 book on wiring available in most Home Depots or Lowes type stores.  Of course, only do what you are comfortable doing.

Like it or not they have been very clear on the PSU spec from the start, although I immediately thought that it indicated they were having trouble meeting the spec with less than 12V... If you have a server PSU I would connect the sense wires to the PCIE socket and that will then compensate for any loss in the wiring.

Single PSU not necessarily more efficient, what is more important is operating a PSU at it's most efficient current.

well i think it would be more efficient in that you are running one fan instead of three to cool psu and less components to travel thru with one psu vs three.. That was my thinking there. I havent tested it but id think there has to be some savings with one psu vs 3

I think Bitmain is working on Sep 3-4 orders now, I am Sep 5 with no confirmation just order status changed to shipped (Sep 28) w/o carrier or tracking information.

Yes... Except that the efficiency of the PSU is quoted including the fan. So... if you had 2 Identical PSU's both 90% efficient at 1200W & 95% efficient at 600W and you needed 1200W then you would be better to use 2 PSU.

My order was placed on 8/31 in USD - payment was not confirmed until 9/10 - power supplies shipped shortly after that and the order showed as shipped.  I just searched my address on UPS and have discovered that the S7's appear to be coming by end of day 10/14.  No additional shipping notice from bitmain.  I did receive a shipping notice when the PSUs shipped - it seems as though their system doesn't really support backorders - I wonder if there is no subsequent shipping notice because their system thinks it is already shipped?

At any rate, they will be a bit late according to their promise, and quite a bit later than I hoped they would be, but I'll be glad to get them up and running.

Does anyone know how to track by reference with FedEx? I've tried using my Bitmain order number but doesn't find anything.

It's as if the FedEx track-by-reference form is assuming that you're tracking a shipment that you shipped, not one that you're going to receive. Maybe the FedEx perspective is why would a receiver know the shipper's reference.

Anyway, if my order actually has shipped, I have no way to confirm it, no idea when it will get here, and no way to plan.

I realize that things are probably busy and chaotic at Bitmain now. But it really would help if they could provide reasonable information.

I'm not getting any information by email, and their support system has always been useless, even at the best of times.

So I got my shipping notification from bitmain via email this morning.





Interesting that bitmain claims that it was supposed to be shipped on the 28th of September but it only went out on the 8th of October. Guess they decided to stress test it for another 12 days to make sure I got a good unit!

My 10 gauge is orange.
Flipped to 220v a while back . Just put in a 125amp subpanel hanging off the main panel with a 125 two plow breaker. Just have to get juice from both legs.
Using 30a pdu with nema L6-30
Wires and breaker are much cooler this way.

Well, BITMAIN started well in 2013 but the more i read this thread, the more i seem to realize how greedy BTC has turned out to be, and honestly, there is absoloutely no differnce in governments faking FIAT and a small anarchist group called BTCminers and their farms. (Well blockchain analysis tops this nonanon- and noncryptocoin!)

This isn't BTC's idea since over two years anymore. You all seem to give a fcuk on anonymity and also give a fcuk on keeping the chain well distriputed and healthy by your greedy poolmining...

That would be very scammy to do. I did not think about that but that is sad to even think of them doing.

The compensation is so very small if they do anything to make it appear as shipped earlier... that would be bad news.  Is this happening to a lot that are still waiting on S7 B1?   I guess I should not be shocked but I am.

Hmmm.  Using BitcoinCZ stats as a basis, my current 6.7TH of ASIC farm ((2) S3s, (3) S4s) pays about 0.005 BTC per found block and that pool finds half-a-dozen or so blocks a day.  If I'm doing the math right, if I solo mined BTC and had average luck, I could find a bit under 1 coin per month solo mining, or 25+ months per block.

Is that what you recommend?  Run for 2 years and hope I find a block, with nothing in between?

Seems to me that unless your spending thousands a month in electricity, pools are not really an option anymore (e.g.  "not an option, a necessity").

Could you refer to a good tutorial for installing a p2pool on linux? (I pref debian). I'm currently running a node on Ubuntu 14.04, so that works too!
I've been using http://eligius.st/ with good results so far, but it's always fun to run your own shit!
