How many alt coins will be launched in 2015?

Will developers eventually start to focus on improving older coins instead of launching new ones because of the excess supply of new coin launches? Or will the number of new coins increase year over year forever?

I think it will. There are still many good coins showing up! Ppl learn how to avoid scam coins. They will buy the good ones!
