Have been trying to get myself to last in the shower full cold for 2 full minutes. So far I last 10 seconds before almost slamming my head into the wall trying to get out of the way. Help me out guys and post some times or tell me you tried it out. Before you jump in: - Max that dial/knob to max cold Enjoy the rush This apparently is super healthy for you and builds up a cold tolerance for the winter.

If you keep that up, you will eventually build up layers of fat to protect your body from hypothermia

Canadian here.
I can handle cold showers pretty well, but it's just a little awkward if you get numb hands or feet if you try to get out of the shower.

Where do you live that your cold water is so cold?! My tap water is still quite warm so it's not really a challenge to shower in it. Do you know that tap water temperature differs by season and region? On hot days when I was younger, we would spend hours of the day under a sprinkler which was hooked up to the cold water tap. The water coming out was around 70F! I'm going to check the temperature edit: let it run for about 5 mintes - 70F (need ice in my Mio)

Is that true? I've always wanted to take colder showers due to it being good for conditioing for the winter and also good for skin and hair. ive never heard of humans building fat just because they jump in a cold shower for 10 minutes its more prolonged exposure

2 Minutes? Easy. In the winter me and my friends used to go to the public swimming pools which they had a sauna which I normally hurt because of how hot they are but because of the snow and ice formed there was a outside pool too which is normally frozen in the winter so we would break a hole in the ice and jump in the sauna for 2 minutes and then rush and jump in the outside frozen pool. who ever gets out first gets a whip to the back which is very painful due to the cold

Yeah because really a whip on its own isn't painful at all. You and your friends seem strange to me.

That post was humour-based and not founded on good science.

Today it was not an option for me to choose if I want to take the cold shower challenge or not. We are short on hot water for 2 days, our service provider is doing some maintenance jobs on the system in order to be prepared for the winter season... Job done (and will be done tomorrow as well)... The day after tomorrow I will announce the hot water shower challenge

I won't take ice cold showers, but cold showers are great! A hot shower feels good for a minute or two, but once I start scrubbing myself the exertion turns enjoyment into 'oh shit im gonna pass out'.
Cold showers go by quicker too, no procrastinating!

You really want to get blood flowing, try hot/cold alternating every 20 seconds or so. You want to talk about tingling in the skin...whoaaa!

I have been in some pretty bad weather situations but for some reason I can not last under the shower more than 20 seconds. Feel amazing after trying to do but scared I am going to smash through the shower glass and bang my head on the toilet. Need to get this done before it gets to cold outside, mind you its supposed to be a mild winter.
Tomorrow I aim for 30 seconds, think once I get to that point I can get past that initial shock to the body.
