Sounds to me like you're being overly pessimistic, perhaps because you waited some confirmations too long, or it's only trick.

36 hours after the transaction and my 25 LTC still unconfirmed. Are they gone forever?

Use a better block explorer, looks like everything has gone through to me : https://chain.so/address/LTC/LN6Q8ajoDxYyUbh2jMPC4DEhctsgRYcMin

No, I did sent the LTC from that address. In my wallet the balance is zero. In most block explorers the balance for that address is 24.999 LTC. Only on blockr.io I found a trace of this transaction.
This LTC address is a LiteVault address. I contacted them. They say "It's definitely sent... not LiteVault's fault, blame the miners"

Problem solved!
Short recap: about 2 days ago I made a transaction of 25 LTC from my LiteVault wallet to Cryptsy. The funds disappeared from LiteVault but never arrived at Cryptsy.
I mailed Someguy123 at LiteVault and got this response:

Quote
Aha, I found the issue.

http://ltc.blockr.io/address/info/LN6Q8ajoDxYyUbh2jMPC4DEhctsgRYcMin

Your sent 25 LTC is currently unconfirmed (no idea why, sometimes transactions randomly take a long time to confirm, not LiteVault's fault, blame the miners).

It's definitely sent. That's why it's showing your balance as 0, because the 25 LTC was sent (but is unconfirmed, that's why other block explorers don't show it properly yet)

Thanks,
Chris (Someguy123)

After waiting and waiting and waiting I decided to open my back-up of this address in Electrum-LTC.... My missing 25 LTC were right there!
Made a new transaction from Electrum-LTC to Cryptsy, my funds arrived without trouble and now I can finally get rid of these litecoins  Smiley

Moral of the story:
Don't keep coins on LiteVault because they steal them
(and make sure you keep back-ups)
