You want governments to stay away from bitcoin and not regulate it in any form. Let them continue to manipulate/control and enforce their currency regulations far, far away from crypto currency so we don't have to trade with assloads of licenses, insurance, compliance officers ect.

Cryptos get discussed at various levels of Canadian government, so far with very little else happening than advisory boards and recommendations. Some positive some not so much. We are headed towards a federal election soon, depending on who wins, we'll see which direction it goes. Not really on any party's promises or platforms.
That said, all parties seem quite open to innovation (kind of a national point of pride) and our national mint has even experimented with its own crypto (mintchip fail) and most regulation regarding exchanges is at the provincial level.
We will have to wait and see, but so far so good. Canada is one of the top btc using nations after all

It's good to see bitcoiners playing their part to promote bitcoin. Nevertheless whether he wins or not at least he brings bitcoin name to the news and for attention. At least this one is on the positive side.

We could try to push bitcoin with the current elections coming up. The only problem I see in doing that is what has happened to current touchy subjects like "right to die" and "legalization of pot"! The current parties do not want to make a off step and lose votes. Could see a old person getting their back out of sorts thinking "these young kids are trying to screw up my pension" or something like that. Watching how many still go to the bank to deposit a cheque is funny as hell.

Maybe on a more grass roots level like municipal level we could push bitcoin or bitcoin supporting people.

As it is right now Mulcair is just another Harper and will stay away from anything like this, maybe Trudeau. If Trudeau can support legalization of pot,he may got on board a technology based currency. Could revolutionize the way Canada operates. The Queen is going to die and we will have to replace all our currency again and that is going to cost a lot. So maybe that will be the time to push for it. Cool
