Hello all! I'm quite new to this forum and am looking for advice.
I'm a young Bitcoin miner looking for an upgrade to larger hardware, but not for 2000$.
I currently have one Bitmain Antminer S3+ and I am looking to get something bigger.
I was wondering what other options there were instead of something like an S5 which in my opinion isn't that great of a miner. I would love something close to an S7 but not for 2000$ something more around 2TH/s that doesn't break the bank.

What is your electricity price? This is a big factor in it. Once knowing the electricity price I could then give a decent recommendation. |

In addition to your electricity price, you need to consider what kind of heat and noise you can tolerate. If your mining hardware is off in a different building you don't live in, your choices are different than if the miner is in the bedroom you share with your spouse (who maybe isn't too happy with noise).
We all want a 2TH, 250W, quiet miner. It may be that the S3 was about the closest general profile for a home miner in terms of it's characteristics. It's just that it's fading in terms of it's economic viability.

S-3 easy to quiet it down. I still run 4 of them as I type. |

Currently there is only BitMain left in the personal home mining industry, the other companies like KNCminer and BitFury have already chosen to fully enter into industrial large mining farm business with VC investment long time ago. And the rest is Spondoolies-Tech, since they've chosen to cooperate with Genesis Mining for cloud mining, there is no strong evidence that they will release any next generation home miner soon.

There is some old gear though on the market that could fit the 2T or add up to the 2T mark. It just depends on his electricity price. If it's cheap he does not need the latest and greatest miner. An older one might even be better ROI for him. Just a lot of factors. I do think we can call this thread dead though. I don't think OP is coming back. |

Well this thread isn't totally dead im looking for the same thing. My power is free but im limited to 4 120v 30A circuits to run the miners on. So i have a decent amount of power just need something to use it lol.

I am this Fri payday. lol Its looking like my best bet is the S3. Also noise really isn't a problem i have worked in various CNC Machine shops over the years so i can't hear shit anyway. lmao

That's not a lot of power, actually - I've got more available in my mobile home. Right now, you'd be looking at Antminer S7 units to maximise your hashrate - but you might want to wait 'till late December, Lketc should have it's new 5TH unit out around then to give Bitmain some BADLY needed competition and there's a chance that Innosilicon will release a new unit on it's own too - and perhaps that way overpriced Sfards unit will drop in price to be competative by then. |

SFards is so quiet I would not count on that one. They were very public did some contests then went dark to general public. So the main question is who is getting the miners they are producing .... and no one knows. LKETC there is a good chance I think they might guess earlier then it happens. They do not make their own chips so they really cant tell exact timeline. I'm sure they have been giving a timeline but hard to tell if we will see it by end of year. I hope so but I am guessing not. |
