There is nothing wrong if this is his desire. Maybe here has someone who had money and need organs. In this way both the parts have that they need and want. Hope that this initiative go good and the people help each other even the one of those will have the worst fortune in the world: the death.

The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

I am explicitly against selling of the organs for anything, Bitcoin, Fiat, or something third. I think that organs should be only donated and to those that need them the most.

But who is to prevent selling of organs for bitcoins. Nobody. Just like we can't prevent selling of organs for Fiat we will never prevent selling of organs for bitcoins.

If it's something like Samuel's case, then yes.
If it involves kidnapping, murders, etc, then NO.
But the activity of buying or selling organs, regardless of the true intentions of the involved parties, promotes criminal activities like kidnapping, murders etc

So does many other things.
Trafficking human body parts already has a black market, that indeed does promote all the stuff you are talking about.
If this type of market should emerge officially it will kill the black market.
Much like drugs, etc.

The question is a red herring. No-one is asking anyone here for permission to sell anything for BTC, so our opinions on the matter make no difference at all.

Selling out to advertisers shows you respect neither yourself nor the rest of us.

This thread really got me thinking. My first reaction was to answer no. But "Samuel" wants to follow the legit route...

If there was a platform in place to sell organs in a legit way we wouldn't be closing the business of organ selling: some middle man would eventually win some revenue and illegal trafficking probably wouldn't hop on this "legit selling" bandwagon and risk diminishing its profits.

However, selling his organs would be a good last resort to fund his family and allow others to survive using this organ. But this raises another question: Organs would certainly be expensive. Are we putting rich people in front of poor people that need organs?

Not to speak of the ethical issues that this might raise, especially in religious communities...

It's definitely not an easy subject. At least most of the world isn't ready to accept this and make this market go forward in a legit way that doesn't affect other negatively.

After thinking and writing this post, my answer would still be no. If good condition to allow the trade of organs are met, my answer might change, but I will most certainly answer no to this in the next few decades Cheesy

No, most people would use this chance to earn money by stealing someone else organs.

Question: Should Bitcoin be legal?
Answer: No, most people would use this chance to earn money by selling drugs.

Also, if people keep using bitcoin for bad purpose, people would think bitcoin is bad Sad

Maybe Bitcoin is bad.  Maybe it should be illegal.

People better donate his vital organs than sell it, many people need it but they don't have enough money.

If organs may only be donated then there will be less supply than demand.  Every patient will have enough money but many would not have enough time (will die waiting).  It is impossible to give 3 livers to 14 patients, no matter how you write the law*.  Were a close family member in hospital needing a new heart, I'd much rather hear "We have one for 28000 dollars" than "They're on the waiting list".

*Unless you're happy with simply seizing the organs of the recently deceased.

When we are talking about buying organs we are again a 100% in black market because as far as I know in legal terms you only can donate organs.
Maybe it already happened. We can not preclude that.Illegal organ trading is a huge business.

Of course NO even a legal transaction. There will be many criminal activites like kidnapping, murder, and illegal operation to earn money because it's hard to track bitcoin transaction. I think it's better to sell or donating organ only in hospitals or special authorities with FIAT only.

Why would organs certainly be expensive?  A fair bit of demand is met even with a price ceiling of $0!

I'd argue that "we" would not be putting the rich ahead of the poor.  "We" would simply be ceasing our oppression, allowing someone to sell their organs on death should they choose.  If someone wishes to put rich ahead of poor then they are free to do so.  If someone prefers not to deny the poor then they are free to donate their organs instead.

Absolutely not !
Since this is illegal trade , some criminal may seek bitcoin as payment method since their transaction is untraceable rather than using local currency. Hope this will not getting more spread out globally because it will make difficult for law enforcement to do their job to track some crime

Bitcoin is not for a particular country so how do we decide which country's laws does Bitcoin choose to follow? Anyway, it's not like it can be enforced.

The ethical question of should body parts be sold at all is different from the one posed by the OP.

My answer is YES.

Bitcoin isn't 'Ethic-coin' or 'Happy-clappy-feel-good-coin' it's cold hard digital money. If it's going to be successful it's going to its hands dirty so to speak.

This^

'Do you want human body parts and organs to be bought and sold with Bitcoin?'

My want or don't want is irrelevant, you may as well ask me if I want Mrs. Miggins to buy pies with pound coins.

Personally I think you should be able to use bitcoin to buy anything you want good or bad. It's up to the authorities to police illegal purchases. Organ selling is quite a big black market in some countries so I could see bitcoin being adopted by them but as for the ethical questions on whether it is right or wrong I'm on the fence personally.

NO.
Human body parts and organs should be donated only.
IMHO poor fellows that are in a waiting list for an organ transplantation must have a chance to survive.

What an idiotic argument?

Just because the poor fellows are dying from organ failure, you want the rich patients also suffer the same fate? I have a better proposal. Make organ trading legal, and then impose a 25% tax on top of it. Use the tax revenue to help some of the poor guys survive. In this way, you can save the life of one poor guy, for every 3 lives saves from the rich sector.

No. But what I want is irrelevant here.
It's up to society to decide whether or not human organs may be offered on a market or not.
Right now, as far as I know, most societies and the majority of people in them, disapprove of organ markets.

Yeah, well, I'm gonna go build my own blockchain. With blackjack and hookers! In fact forget the blockchain.

It would be a massive problem trying to legislate this. It will never be seen as something good if it's not properly legislated and regulated, like some said, it will be seen as something very negative, just like what we already got with the illegal porn and the drugs and all that, we don't need more bad publicity.
