Yes of course, but in a legal manner and not in a back-alley way or something like that. There are still those who are willing to sell off their kidneys to gain bucks for their family, so if bitcoin is one of the payment methods they accept then why not?

NSA/CIA/FBI/FDA/USDA ALERT: This is a question, not an actual offer or marketing opportunity!  (related altcoins are only a rumor at this time)
Note: The existence of a market does not assume that everyone is a criminal.

Hello everyone, let's give a warm welcome to Samuel!
"Hey all, please allow me to help my truly needed family!!" ~Samuel

Critical Notice: Samuel has a rare disease that will kill him within 6 months, and leave all of his major organs perfectly healthy.
Instead of donating his vital organs, Samuel wants to use a network of legit doctors and marketplaces to sell his organs/parts to support his family.

Yes, sadly some of the other people who buy and sell will be evil, almost beyond belief.
Do you want human body parts and organs to be bought & sold with Bitcoin?

My opinion is this.  When people's loved ones are dying they are desperate. It is understandable they are going, in many cases, going to be willing to go to nearly any extent to save their lives if they know a solution exists.  This means a blackmarket will exist if a legal, safe alternative is not in place.  Why not create a legalized private market where people who are terminally ill or die in freak accidents can sell their organs to people willing to pay and give the proceeds to family/charity/friends.  There would still be plenty of donors but also a market for private donors and it would cut into the black market.  Thoughts?

Before we can even finish this discussion thread the world will see transhumanist wet dreams come true. Bionic you-name-its that only the rich will have access to will be everywhere, and probably killer AI. Resistance is pretty futile I guess.

Forgive my petulance and oft-times, I fear, ill-founded criticisms, and forgive me that I have, by this time, made your eyes and head ache with my long letter. But I cannot forgo hastily the pleasure and pride of thus conversing with you.

Well, I guess I know what market place I'll be coding today. It's going to be awesome OP. I'm going to add multi-currency support and start advertising on forums for chronic illness to get early sign ups. Then, I'm going to pay some people to start spreading rumours about a dark web website that can make you serious cash by selling your organs. That should get me some initial supply. All that's missing then will be to get the (semi)-skilled surgeons involved to do the operations as well as to organize logistics which shouldn't be too hard to do when you consider the huge amount of debt most doctors end up in. Once I have some reviews up there and a good reputation, I can start contacting the press to get even more sign ups which again should be easy considering the story I'd be pitching.

PM me if anyone is interested in building the world's first decentralized, P2P organ, marketplace.

(I am joking btw. Why would I advertise this on a public forum connected to my real name?)

Still, I can guarantee you that OP inadvertently gave the next Ross Ulbrict of organ trade a similar idea to the one above. Thanks to the OP: we will now have a Bitcoin organ marketplace within the next few months - I guarantee it. Interestingly enough, it could potentially save lives but it's hard to imagine that the downsides wouldn't be worse than the upsides.

No, because organs aren't straightforwardly your property because they are necessary for your life, and your right to life ,not for sold
if that's legal  of course organs would be only accesible for those who have money. therefore people who dont have the money are not gonna be able to buy an organ

So the rich will just grow fresh organs identical to their old ones but healthy in a petri dish?  Or will nanotechnology go into the body and rebuild organs?  Also, the super rich will have a much less likely chance of needing an organ because they will be less genetically predisposed to any diseases that could cause organ failure.  This will obviously be accomplished through advanced genetic engineering.

Jesus, NO !
Ofcourse if this happen, let the seller being cursed by doing that. Bitcoin must be use for something usefull rather than for crime. I'm really wonder if they keep trying selling this forbidden transaction.

No. I think human body shouldn't be traded- except for research purposes which shouldn't involve a price.

As someone working in the field of tissue engineering I can tell you that our dream of growing organs in a petri dish will not be available for a loooong time if at all. It has proven to be very difficult to grow artifical 3d organs with the correct function.

The famous ear on a rat is not really an artifical organ, as it was just a template with some skin growing over it. It does nothing more than fulfill a cosmetic role.

Funcitonal kidneys and livers are a completely different story.

Well, I will agree as long as it's for a good purpose.
But seriously, we can't blame technology (Bitcoin) for this kind of problem.
Who should we blame is the person that use the technology for bad purpose, not the technology.

Not yet.

When there are plenty of Bitcoin-accepting grocers, so I can buy fava beans...
and plenty of online wine merchants, so I can buy a nice Chianti...

THEN...

If I've said anything amusing and/or informative and you're feeling generous:

Why are kidneys and livers a different story?  There are companies standing to make a ton of money if they can do this.  How long until they start growing kidneys and livers in labs?

Great idea, but what when someone who want's for his organs to be used and is dying.. would you prefer for hospital to get the money, or his/hers family ?
imho there should be no difference between b&s organs for fiat or for crypto, and the final say should be made by organ donator.
I don't even have to say that any such activity should be closely monitored, due to high chances of creating a black market that will exploit donators, instead of helping them

If you can buy them with Fiat why not buy them with Bitcoin as well? as long as it is all properly regulated I don't see the problem why it cannot!

And you know that 'proper regulation' won't happen in a decentralized system controlled by none. If money is involved in this kind of matters, you know that the government has a keen eye and ears on surveying it. Also, body parts trade wouldn't be a thing unless those human rights psycho widen their perspective on the matter.

Let's see, do I want human body parts to be traded like used auto parts in any currency.

I agree with you here, but I also think that bitcoin should not be regulated. More regulation is the same as more government control.
