Bitcoin Spam Tests 'Could Violate UK Law'

The bitcoin stress tests planned by CoinWallet could breach UK law, a legal professional has suggested.

The claim was first posted on Reddit yesterday, with user 'btcdrak' asserting: "The Computer Misuse Act 1990 in the United Kingdom makes it an offence to deliberately cause disruption to computer systems with intent."

Lol. I'm sure it's a legal grey area but who is going to prosecute them exactly. It clearly just a test and not with malicious intent so don't see how anyone one have grounds to try get them with this law.

I think it's bullshit, whether it's legal or not there should be no government stopping them from doing this, if Bitcoin were to fail from such a simple attack then it means it wasn't going to work in the first place. This is just like with the whole 51% attack, I was rather annoying when CEX.IO said it wouldn't increase their hashpower even more because I think that they should have tested whether it was even possible so we'd know for certain.

More and more people seem to be interested in protectionism in cryptocurrencies than in making sure the developers experiment properly and build a truly robust economy as opposed to something that gets coddled by various special interest groups whenever there's an issue. That is exactly how fiat currencies keep ending up in such a mess to begin with because the politicans and banks refuse to adapt, change and properly test things to make sure it all works.

Yep, I agree ....Let whoever wants to "attack" Bitcoin... do it. We cannot test this kind of shite on The Test network... to see a real world result. I do have a problem for the

goal behind the reason for doing these tests. Why did we not have all these tests before this whole fork thing happened? They pushing a hidden agenda and it would cause a

lot of damage, if it was successful... effectively killing the cow that is producing the milk.  Angry
