Hi,

has anyone mande some experiments how to attach more than two hashboards to a S3 controller board.

Or - alternatively - use the available free ports in a S5 miner to attach S3 hashboards perhaps?

Any Frankenstein-Antminer experience welcome. ;-) I have several partially working devices here and would like to make use of the parts as good as possible.

I don't think it is poss unless you use custom made cables but it is poss to mix the S5 with S5 + boards some one did it and selling a few S5 + boards which i may do if more come up for sell my founds are little low right now .

I don't think either of these is possible.   If you had two extra S5 boards depening on which firmware you can have 4 S5 boards.  But have never seen a successful mixing as you were wanting to do.

Also on a lot of the firmware's only 2 ports work.  So  you have to use certain ones like I said to even to the 4 of just S5 boards.

From other posts it looks like S5 & S5+ controllers & firmware can be freely mixed and work.

Even with modified cables I suspect that an S3 could not be plugged to an S5 Controller, however noone has reported trying it.

I can confirm the S5 + firmware DOES work on an other S5 controller , i did it on my dead S5 that needs two 16 pin boards.

so that's very temping if he has them still when i get the coin i may buy one S5 + board and put in on my 18  pin S5 and sell off that S5 hash board.

OP is wanting to make a S3/S5 mixture.  I have never seen this done.

I don't think it's something that will be able to be done.  At least not without some sort of custom controller and I don't think it would be worth dev for one of the engineers on the board to make.

i would think the same two diff controller types might cost to much to do . I only put that in about the S5 so he knows about it . Smiley .

I have tried S3 controller with 4 hashboards.Firmware doesn't recognize more than two boards. It's not possible to connect s3 hashboard to s5 controller with original cables.S3 cable has 12v rail and it burns s5 controller immediately.S3 and S5 controllers have different microprocessors so you can't flash s3 firmware to s5 controller and vice versa. It though might be possible to flash s5 controller with C1 firmware and use custom cables to connect s3 hashboards.Or flash C1 controller with s5 firmware and use s5 hashboards. But I don't see any benefit of that solution. If you want to create monster miner with s3 hashboards just use cp2102s and level shifter-adapter for s3.You can connect as many as you want and use cgminer.Build it to a case, add powered usb hub and rasp,so you have stand alone miner as powerful as you want.I use 8 s3/c1 hashboards that way, giving about 1.7 TH.I will add 4 more boards when I find those at reasonable price.

You really think you could combine 2 or 3 antminer s3's together all hashing through the same controller. Do you think there would be any benefit to this versus just running 3 different machines. I mean I would build the box if it was worth it. Wonder how the overclocking would work.
