There are a lot of people that is using Bitcoin as their payment method and that would be really nice because you also see that Bitcoin is becoming more acceptable so that is nice.
But the bad thing only of the Bitcoin is that you cant predict the value and that is the bad thing so you have to take some risks also if you want to use Bitcoin.

I am glad your bitcoin helped you survived that medical emergency. Without it, it will be harder for you to find money to pay the hospital. Bitcoin has helped me also thru some hard times when I really need money. It is good to save some bitcoin for emergency purposes. It is harder to get money if you have to loan it from somebody else. And sometimes the interest can kill you.

Spending will be only nice if the value is going to be higher and when Bitcoin is going to be more acceptable so you can use it more as a payment method so that is nice.
But it is still hard to know what will happen with Bitcoin in the future, it is a currency so that is almost impossible to predict.

But in my view, the catch is when you are going to use your bitcoins. The time will decide how much bitcoin is needed for your need and how much you are going to present to your next generations.
