Let's say one downloads full bitcoin core or blockchain network and decides to become a node... The question here is " In order to become a successful running node do the user have to keep his system online 24*7 so that the entire core remains continuously synchronized Or there is no such compulsion to remain online for entire day throughout the week" Please help solve this confusion quickly. I would really like to be a part of the network by becoming a successful node. Also It's not possible to become a node using a Virtual Machine, is there???

You can easily be a node whenever you want to, when you start Bitcoin Core, it will start to download blocks from the peers. Note that you need to port forward 8333 TCP to become a node. The network needs more reliable nodes than unreliable nodes. If you disconnect from time to time, your peers would have to find another node to connect to. You can run a node using virtual machine.

You don't have to run your node 24/7 to be a full node. You'd need to keep bitcoin ports open and make sure that your node is syncing every time you start it. If however, your node's syncing time takes longer than your node running fully then it'll might be a bigger burden to the network rather than a contributor.
Also, if you have a good connection, consider downloading the blockchain files from an updated torrent in order to dully take advantage of your download speed without having to run a full client at the same time.

Seeding blockchain files does not directly help Bitcoin. As of 0.10.0, Headers-first synchronization is already implemented and the Bitcoin core synchronize from different peers simultaneously, hence, it is much faster to synchronize directly from Bitcoin Core client. Even if you want to seed the torrent, it won't be updated and users still have to manually connect to nodes to synchronize them.

But running core is resource intensive. And at the same time, the node will be leeching from other while being unable to provide full functionality. Either way, simply getting a blockchain torrent before putting the node to sync doesn't hurt bitcoin either.

I get that I'd have to keep the node running for so long so as to contribute positively to the network... though I don't think that I can get updated torrents to seed from so as to start working as a node... Synchronizing directly from Bitcoin core client seems a good way to start... Thanks guys for all your help

I use AWS of Amazon to make virtual machine and put wallet in to use it as a node. You can make a machine for free.

better to use workstation and do it on your hdd or ssd, it's easy and fast and you have another operative OS that you can use for something else this if your desktop is strong enough to handle both...
