Scammer tags aren't balanced out with anything like a scam accuser tag so many marketplace threads are full of baseless accusations, a lot even have posts stating 'this is a scam' without any attempt at an explanation. This puts a lot of pressure on the trader to justify themselves while allowing the trolls to run free.
Would an opposite to the scammer tag make sense and would it put too much pressure on the mods?
Really we could use a more comprehensive feedback/rating system a la eBay, or even integration with WoT. I believe there is a large bounty offered in another thread for better forum software. I hope this kind of feature is a part of that effort.

Too much energy has been given to these negative things on this forum.
We should avoid those "controversial" character as much as we can.
He who attracts troubles deserves no attention.

The problem with a positive ratings system is that most of the colossal failures in Bitcoin have happened very suddenly. There have been a few cases where people have become less and less reliable over time, but those have often involved small players and affected only a few users. What's tended to happen with the bigger services with whom many users interact is that they'll go from being reliable one week to gone the next. In such situations, those people/services have a very high level of trust right up until the moment they fail, so trust ratings are pretty useless.

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

What about BitcoinFeedback ratings pulled in beneath usernames via a greasemonkey script?

The mods don't even have time to scammer tag people, Don't forget they are not doing this for gain and receive no part of the donations pot. I would gladly do this for free

I think its a bad idea to have a positive rating system, it probably would make people less cautius and trust a bunch of good ratings which can be faked too. Better leave it as is so people are forced to do some research before dealing with some stranger. The negative rating system is good for the pupose to tag scammers, of course.

A +1 Button on each user would be fine. Each user can give a user only one +1 and also remove it. Otherways some users would start paying for multiple votes. Also newbees can't vote to make sure one doesn't use multiple sockpuppets to boost his own ratings. I would like that. Edit: On the other hand, my profile would always say to me: "You have 0 friends"

Wait, what if everyone on the forums starts with a scammer tag, then if your ponzi scheme or exchange or investment or whatever lasts for more than 6 months (or 6 transactions), then you have to petition the mods to have the scammer tag removed?
This way, you can tell who's a scammer immediately (it's everyone, everyone is a scammer).

A forum is probably not the best platform to do trading. There are other sites that are designed for selling things with bitcoin. Let's just keep this forum simple.

Now this is an idea I can get behind.
