eventually people wont just mine for shits and giggles they need the price to increase for that mining to be or become profitable
Hashrate and price, who follows who is a SPECULATION problem

FTFY

If I had reasonable assurance that something BIG was going to happen and it would be worth 0.015 BTC in 3 months I would mine the ever living crap out of LTC regardless of current difficulty.

If i felt price was going to be stable, i would only mine when difficulty is on the down cycle.

just for the joy. because it would be cheaper to buy with btc than to mine it

just a special satisfaction to mine it oneself Smiley

BUMP Its hovering around 39 thats pretty brutal, it looks like the hashrate came down a little but the difficulty remains pinged deep in the redzone.

Allchains.info reports that litecoin difficulty is currently at 13.22, and is about to bump up to 13.56. I'm not sure if this is the all time highest litecoin difficulty, but it is the highest I have ever seen it. Is there anybody who has kept records of previous mining difficulty who can confirm whether this will be a new record high? If so, what does it mean for litecoin? Will it force a higher litecoin price, or will it prevent additional bitcoin miners from moving across to litecoin?

about 6.5 times that now... :\

I thought it was just the high 40's back during the block halving roller coaster.

We'll hit 78-80 today though.

I'm pretty sure it was in the 40s. Its quite amazing how fast the litecoin network has grown in the last few months.

It is not that awesome, but logical.

Thousands of new interests were drawn to Bitcoin by articles, and the very steep price increase, so everyone wants to get in. Who gets in, realizes that waitaminutedude, here is something that might not be as premined as BTC, and the difficulty is not that ramped up, let's give it a try with my 1-10 gpu's, instead of Bitcoin.

Hence the network grows, imagine what'll happen if the few terahashes start to mine ltc instead of BTC (which partially started because of it's price increase and the good conversion/electricity rate compared to BTC). The pros already have their batchfile present on the desktop for LTC <--> BTC with everything setup, i am afraid, so...no biggie

Good days will come tho those, who mine Smiley

has the price already reflected the increase in LTC difficulty?
