I'm in two mind on whether this is a good thing for bitcoin.

Surely it would give bitcoin a much needed voice when it comes to the negotiations surrounding regulations and legislation and it might also give bitcoin as an 'industry' some direction but there is also the negative side in that they could essentially steer bitcoin in any direction they want to in as far as regulations etc.. are concerned.

Personally I see more positives than negatives so guess this could be a very good thing depending on how its implemented.
