Hi guys!

I was wondering, are there many people actually mining por PPC?
Just checked http://coinotron.com and in their pool there are (in this moment) 9 people mining.

So far as I can see PPCoin is relatively recent. At least according to http://www.proofofstake.com/ I can only see information for a couple of months only.
For now mining for PPC is kind of easy. However, it's value is very low. For example, in this very moment, comparing to BTC it has a value of 0.000173.

I can see some improvements have been made, and there's a PPC wallet software very similar to BTC wallet, which is very easy to use, both for Windows and Linux.
Windows: http://www.ppcointalk.org/index.php?q=node/15
Linux: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=101820.260

Do you think that many people will start mining for PPC?

Cheers!

I think it's a new currency, which, brings new things to the table Smiley.  Over the last month there have been quite a lot of people mining it. I think it's possible, to, from the difficulty figure out how much GH/s is being thrown at it at the moment - I think it's quite a bit.

testing phase 1 was loaded up here... http://ltcmusic.com/ppcauction/index.php and I will keep u all posted when it goes live... as I have a number of items to sell and will be happy to be paid in PPC for them all Smiley

I have been mining PPC since early in the game.

When I started difficulty was ,as I remember, in the high 1000 to low 2000.

The difficultly has had its first peek in the 13000 range, and now bounces between 10000 and 12000.

Stable price level has been rising in the Bitparking PPC exchange. There are bubbles and bursts , but the average stable price has been slowing rising.

SatoshiRoulette is going to add some PPC games.

Sunny (developer of PPC) , Andy Rossy and myself are active in various projects around PPC.

Edit: I do not want to forget the pool operators and exchange operators as well!!!! They are vital to the growth of PPC.

So dispute what the trolls say, PPC has been growing.

It does not support merged mining so to mine it would subtract from mining seven other chains.

But maybe when it is seven times as valuable than the average maybe it will start to look worthwhile to say "to hell with all the other chains such as bitcoins and namecoins and devcoins and so on, PPC is more profitable".

However there are many other chains waiting to see if merged mining is really practical so maybe instead of switching to PPC when it becomes "more profitable" adding more chains to the merged mining lineup might need to be considered too as maybe adding more of them (some look like they might even catch up with bitcoin in value) might be even more profitable...

In the long run PPcoin has to develop a competitive advantage over bitcoin. Otherwise it will not really grow in value with respect to bitcoin. Right now it's only good for hedging the network security model and the development team/community.

We just reconfigured 1 of our miners for PPC adding 1 GH to the network, shortly after 1 of our slow to broadcast TX's finally came through.
We like to think we are doing our bit to help Wink

What happened on Aug 19? 2 million ppc mined in one day with no reason?

http://www.proofofstake.com/

OTOH on 9/14, with ~100 fold difficulty, only 51K mined.

 Huh

 Huh

Aug 19 was the release date. Difficulty starts at 256 so lots of mining power joined to mine some blocks at low difficulty.

ppcoin's mint rate is determined by difficulty. So as difficulty rise mint rate is somewhat lowered.

I don't mine full time but I have it set as my backup on 3 of my rigs so when I do mine I throw 2 GH/s at it.

I see.
I must be one of the unlucky ones, on the launch day, I turned on two ppc clients, mined for 2 hours, got a lot of "accepted" message Wink, apparently nowadays "accepted" doesn't mean lucky strike anymore.
