Super positiv.

http://videos.arte.tv/de/videos/arte-journal--6974234.html

Der Macromedia-Player greift auf folgende xml Datei zu:
http://videos.arte.tv/de/do_delegate/videos/arte-journal--6974234,view,asPlayerXml.xml

Ganz interessant, es steht in der xml, dass der film auf "defrancisation.com" nicht abgespielt werden können soll. Arte hat wohl etwas gegen defrancisation.com

in besagter xml steht wiederum:
http://videos.arte.tv/de/do_delegate/videos/arte-journal--6974236,view,strmVideoAsPlayerXml.xml

und in dieser xml steht unter anderem:

<url quality="sd">rtmp://artestras.fcod.llnwd.net/a3903/o35/mp4:geo/videothek/ALL/arteprod/A7_SGT_ENC_02_046443-204-A_PG_MQ_DE?h=6ebf5fd45ed65b592b5122c4b76fe5c3
</url>

<url quality="hd">rtmp://artestras.fcod.llnwd.net/a3903/o35/mp4:geo/videothek/ALL/arteprod/A7_SGT_ENC_04_046443-204-A_PG_HQ_DE?h=f2202d82899b84bfecea36a55936ec5a
</url>

Can someone give a few details to us linguistically disadvantaged folks? Guessing its a TV show, if so is it a popular one?

Arte is a French/German TV network. They focus on Culture, europe and Informations. They are IMO one of the few senders with a good and informative program.

They made an article about Bitcoin in their prime time news. In German and in French.

The article can be considered BTC positive.

They interviewed a barkeeper who accepts bitcoin, some guy from goggle, a member of the Iceland parliament and some guy from the "Bundesverband Digitale Wirtschaft" - German Association of the Digital Economy.

Sorry I started this in German, I thought I was on the German board Smiley.

It is a 2min documentary on the evening news of arte, which is a french/german tv station, the 'culture channel'.

The great thing is that the anchorwoman goes right from 'financial crises', 'more bank bailouts' and 'people don't trust this anymore' to 'and here is Bitcoin'. On the evening news show. And then comes that overall positive report about Bitcoin.

I shall provide an ogg or something soon, I do have access to the raw material. It will stay available on the arte site anyhow.

Disclosure: I'm the guy who runs that bar.

Great coverage.
Arte is informing a lot these days about how our financial systems sucks, and this report is in this line, presenting bitcoin as a solution.
To be fair, in France it is one of the less watched tv news. But audience is still probably in the 6 low figures

Finally good to see more balanced Bitcoin reporting in German-speaking news. Nice to see that the FUD by BVDW got addressed right away. +1 for arte.

If its the French version could you share it? I just got an endless 'connecting' message when I tried to watch it. Thanks.

Does this work for you?

If there is one country that is spooked about everything that is going on in the EU, it is Germany. There are numerous reports of people using the Deutsche Mark again or refusing to accept the Y-notes (euro bank notes from Greece). An option to take at least some of your savings completely out of the system must appeal to the savers in Germany.

It is as if BTC was coded for this country  Tongue

<There are numerous reports of people using the Deutsche Mark again or refusing to accept the Y-notes (euro bank notes from Greece).

There are not many people using "DM" again, as most people changed their national currencies to EURO.
Very often this is a Marketing strategy and many people pay with their old national currency(that they stored at home/collected...) for products.

Though more people focus on alternative investments as gold, silver etc. in these times.
Somehow BTC would fit in there very well...

Yes, worked fine that time, thanks. That on prime time TV is really huge, arte might not be the most popular network but they're one of the most trusted and putting this on right after prime time news on the current financial situation... omg

@joecooin would love to buy beer with bitcoin sometime and I'm sure I'm not the only one, please post the address of the bar and good luck with the celebrity status Wink

Thanks! Yes it's ROOM77 in Berlin Kreuzberg. We hold the monthly Bitcoin meetup in Berlin here.

We have been using the bar as a vehicle to get positive media-coverage about Bitcoin out there for more than a year now. It makes it much more feasable to show how someone pays his dinner and beers with that currency so journalists love that. The result by now is a real lot of attention in the media (tv, radio, and uncounted print-articles in the major German press) which is all about the positive sides of Bitcoin instead of money laundering and drug trafficking.

This thing on arte is a milestone really though. From a communication strategic point of view it is a 100% success. I explain how easy, simple and cheap it is to pay with Bitcoin, Birgitta (and hey, she is a honorable member of the icelandic parliament) explains why she thinks society desperately needs a financial system that is independent and decentraliced, Mike Hearn explains that with this technology we can build whole financial markets without any banks or central organisations and at the end I give out a little rant about Western Union and banks alltogether for fucking over the poorest people in society and that that will not be possible anymore in a Bitcoin world. And the way it is embedded and announced on the evening news show leaves no doubt that this is to be taken seriously and not some nerdy toy anymore.

Thanks to Birgitta and Mike for their time! We made these interviews on the London conference.

So I raise my glass to bring out the toast that we have established here at ROOM77 and say:

'to blockchain eternity!'

Wink

Hey Akka,

seeing your avatar and sig-file I think it is worth mentioning that the bust next to me on the bar while I am being interviewed is a bronze bust of our Lady Eris!

Wink

Hail Discordia!
