I try to cover my bases, on anything that might be valuable in the future, so I purchase alt-coins and hold them like I would bitcoin. I usually just look at the total market cap of the coin and whether it offers something new, or has potential.
I have at least a millionth and sometimes much more of Ripple, Ethereum, Dash, Bitshares, Maidsafe, Next, Peercoin, Monero and Counterparty.
I also have some exposure to Litecoin, Dogecoin and Stellar, but don't see much point to them beyond network effect.
Looks to me you rather gamble instead of doing research and going for a couple of really good coins. Buying a good share of all the most established coins isn't gambling, it's insurance. I do research all the coins I purchase, and if you go into any of the forums for any of those coins I listed above, they all think they're the next big thing. The cost to own a millionth of most of the alt-coin networks is insanely low. If I want to cover my bases, why wouldn't I spend 20 dollars on a top 10 competitor that gives me the same share as owning 21 bitcoins on the bitcoin blockchain? Can you list these "couple" good coins that are a sure fire success over the coins I purchased above? It IS a gamble. 99% of the altcoins are pure junk. They are scams, fraud, pump-dump. Buying more than a few dollars worth of each will only make money for Crypsy. You should do a proper investigation on Digibyte and Guldencoin. Thank me later mate. Also come visit the Netherlands if you are going to spend them.

This is a good pick of coins. I agree, I just invest in a few of very promising coins. I don't give any attention to new coins anymore. I'm holding a couple of bags. Bitcoin, Litecoin, Circ, ETH and a few dash. Not really interested anymore in none of them except Bitcoin to be honest and as soon as I see a opening I will be unloading most of them.

Why you think Clams will be a good choice? Just wondering because I have not heard much of this coin yet. I only have Clams and AMS or Amsterdam coins that I bought during an ICO in Yobit. Planning to dispose them (AMS) all and except for Clams that I continue to hold and collect through Clam faucets.

I'm an alt coin collector, and I hold many of them including: CasinoCoin, Bitshares, Ethereum, Expanse, Litecoin, Dogecoin, MaidSafeCoin, Tekcoin, Paycoin, LiteDoge, Diamond, ArtByte, and Magi. The list is pretty long though, but I invest just a little amount into each of them with the hopes of getting profits someday.

Where do you store all this coins? Do you use the main wallet for each or are using an exchange (but very risky)? I try to hold as much good coins as can! I'm trying to collect as many as i can so that if one of them rises in price I might hit the golden pot!

Same as me, mate. I'll have a bunch of them and have them stored on paper wallets just in case. You'll never know when you hit the jackpot someday.

Only BTC. BTS, ETH, MAID and a few others interest me, but holding just isn't my thing anymore. Jim Rogers says a trade is like taking a quick shower.
Edit: I will hodl altcoins when they become useful.

I hold dogecoin, litecoin, and namecoin. I mined these coins in their early stages so I haven't invested any actual money in them.

That’s a great looking collection you got there mate. If you want to keep your coins safe, I suggest you withdraw them from Bittrex as soon as possible, now that exchanges get hacked often. It is best to move them to a paper wallet for best security. Anyways, this is just a suggestion.
