Contrary to popular belief, sports-betting usually is NOT profitable type of betting. You are going against the bookies, and since I've worked on software for many bookies I can tell you that they work very hard to beat you in the long run and stay in the business with +EV for them. They hire professionals to work for them both for making odds and creating software, and any anomaly like if somebody somewhere keeps winning is automatically cached and analysed to see what is happening. They like very much that someone sometimes gets a big winning for small amount of money, because there is no better advertising for them, but they dislike when anyone gets even the smallest repeatable wins. Make no mistake, if there is a flaw in the system which you hope to exploit that flaw will be patched as soon as you raise their attention by simply wining. You can not hide your wins, they see it in their software, and you are working alone against the system which is sparing no efforts to beat you.

In my opinion the best chance to win by gambling in the long run is betting against other human beings, not the house (bookies). Be that some skill based game like poker, or horse betting on totalizator (betting pool, Parimutuel betting) gives you much bigger chance. You only have to beat someone who has similar resources like yourself, not the beast with many heads like bookie.

I'm not much of a gambler myself, but when I gamble I play poker. Poker can be very profitable, but it is very time consuming as well. Betting and casinos,  are not my type. so, what's your opinion on what could be more profitable?

Short term casino gambling, dice, slots, roulette maybe be profitable but they more than likely will not. 

Stick with your Poker and if you know much about sports maybe give that a shot but I would stay away from most gambling as you have till now.

Don't think there is easy money to be made from gambling because that is a slippery slope

The edge is very significantly higher.
Many seems to be thinking pros can beat the house easily. They don't see that pros are setting the odds in the first place, so that their EV is positive (as you said).

In sports betting there is no such thing as being lose in the long run. There are many factors including sports analyzation , stats , fearless forecasts etc. that can help you always win especially if the game you will bet is your favorite one.

So overall I preferred sports betting as one of the profitable gambling type (at least) .

Gambling is not very profitable, because in the long run you will always lose... that's why so many casinos exist.  If you do get on a hot streak in any type of gambling game though, take it and run.  Gambling is always meant to be something that is fun and passes time for entertainment, I wouldn't make it into a career by any means.

  The only thing I can see that would be profitable and considered "gambling" in some sense is to invest in something, whether trading other cryptos or trying your luck on ponzi's ... there are tons of scams out there so be careful wherever you put your money though.

Thanks for your answer. I guess I have the same belief. In gambling, in the long run you will always lose.
Nevertheless, we a see a lot of professional gamblers. And the ones who seem to keep their way are concentrated either on poker or in the sports betting \trading industry.

thats because it is possible to consistently profit in the long run in poker/sportsbets. unlike other typical gambling games, these are not bets against the house. in poker for example, it is possible to win consistently in a way that will overall increase your bankroll. with sportsbooks, it is possible to gain an edge by playing the displayed opening odds, researching, etc. both do take time, but it can be treated as a full time job with enough expertise.

Don't get me wrong, I know that some people can become profitable by gambling in poker and that kind of thing... but in all reality these people lead to have no lives in investing their time solely on that one game. Hell, my brothers roommate in college was the richest kid I have ever met in my entire life and it was because of online poker... he ended up becoming professional and going to the WSP.

But at what cost? On weekends, he would skip out on party's/barhoping with us and would go barricade himself in a small cubicle at the university's library and stay there for hours or even a full day at times... Now he became very successful with what he did, made 100K+ at least, but hopefully you get my point..

everything comes at a cost, and your brother's friend valued his hobby more than partying. he consciously made the decision to spend time on his hobby/passion over partying with friends on weekends, and in his case, it worked out pretty nicely. maybe you, in his shoes, would have valued the time spent with friends more, but every person is different, and would make different decisions in the same situation.

If you have good knowledge and interest in any sports and you know the history and positions of the teams very well then you are going to make much profit in sports betting.Most of the people they don't have enough updates they go simply after odds and this is what makes them loose their money.You should not go after odds but after teams.
