It's possible but you have to determine if the time and effort is worth the profit. Unless you had huge amounts to play around with I'm sure you'd be gambling a lot to make a very small return.

Have a look at the different markets, different currencies and see if you can find a opportunity where someone is paying a premium on coins.

Theoretically it's possible but it's not easy. You have to have open accounts on all major exchanges and have verifications done as well. Then you have to take a risk by holding funds on these exchanges. At the end you have to be at the right place at the right time.

And if you have done all of the above, you will probably get beat to the arbitrage opportunities by many bots that are currently operating on many exchanges. So as you can see, there are opportunities but you won't get rich by doing it.

I remember having seen before a thread about arbitraging using custom made scripts and it involves holding different altcoins in several exchangers. Basically the bot will perform tx on your behalf but it also means holdjng sizable amount of funds to even generate a decent return.

Well, not appropriate example to use a so much risky exchange.... Embarrassed

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1090193.0

Let's pick BTC/EUR which has huge spreads between exchanges:

Cryptsy   261
   Buy offer 3.5 BTC
BTC-e    198.18
   Sell offer 4.25 BTC

Does anyone still use Cryptsy?

Arbitrage trading with BTC is very profitable if you can execute trades very fast. to positively execute arbitrage trading with BTC you will need to stay on the price in different exchanges. here you have a tool that can help you a lot:

I think yes you can do arbitrage with bitcoins.
But it doesn't worth it, you have to open accounts on many exchanges and have both bitcoins and cash in them, so I think you need some good amount of money initially to be profitable in it.

I used to Arbitrage extremely well selling to CampBX, there was literally $40/BTC discrepancies between them and other exchanges. Plus I had an investor from India who trusted me, which was a blessing.

That's great to hear then!

At topic: Yes arbitrage is possible.. There are trading platforms that offers free arbitrage program like the one I'm using right now. You can check out their arbitrage program here: http://www.ecoin.eu/en/arbitrage/index

Can you expand a bit on that, how does that arbitrage program work? Do you need knowledge to benefit from it?

arbtirage is possible, but the benefits only a few. you have to have a lot of capital to do this. little capital just wasting your time with meager earnings.

Yes, there are many forms of arbitrage with bitcoins.  One way is to keep charts open on multiple exchanges, and currency pairs.  Try to identify which exchanges are the "leading indicators."  You will find that some exchanges will make big moves and the others will follow.  The Chinese trade more bitcoins than any other country.  US is second.  Keep that in mind as well.  Also, some exchanges offer no fees on limit orders, so you can watch the buy and sell walls and just play the spread.  However, this is a dangerous strategy because if the market moves fast, you can lose a lot.

You actually just need some common sense (no pun intended) to know how arbitrage works. Yet, there are several types of arbitrage that goes with the market. It's just like bidding. The highest one wins. Hope you get my point.
