Amount of investement needed to open a faucet ?

What do you think is the needed amount of BTC needed to open a faucet and in the same time making a profit . [Including hosting , Satoshi's given to users etc ... ] I prefer hearing from people who have experience .
Also when I say "Satoshi's given to users" I mean also how much is the decent amount that should be given to Users + attract traffic .

I doubt you can make much profit with a new faucet these days. if you do not pay exceptionally good compared to the top guys. and if you pay good you won't make profit, you can only lose.

anyways, I'd start with 5 bitcoin + 5 bitcoin in ads.

To ride the faucet wave today and to be listed in some faucet rotators, claimers want an average of minimum 1,000 satoshis per hourly claim (or at least above 500 satoshis) based on reading in some faucet topics in Micro Earnings Section. Many new faucet rotator with decent payout are created nowadays which includes all of the best faucet out there so to be able to make a name there, one must make a stunning faucet that somehow can outshine those in the list. For investment needed, I don't have much that idea since building faucets nowadays requires more features (at least) to gained some traffic and attract those faucet claimers.

I used to run a faucet  and it was a descent one and it also gained a descent ranking amongst the faucets. I used to spend approx 0.1btc to 0.15btc weekly and earned 0.5btc/week.
Also the earnings were not stable, they varied with the availability of the advertisers.
It all depends on chance and dont get disheartened if you dont get a success in a few days.

I think it's depends on your web ads network, amount per claim for users, and reff commision. All it's depends on your budget too, but recently there are a lot new faucet appear, you need to compete with a tons of faucet out there, you need to make your faucet unique and the rate is mid-high or high if it's you have a budget. For the hosting, AFAIK there are cheap hosting you can buy only $1+.

Start up costs and operating costs are going to be arrived at differently.

Start up costs are going to involve your GD and website design, advertising, etc. I can help you with this but it would be best to discuss via PM.

Operating costs are largely going to involve hosting fees, faucet management fees, and the house's bank. You need to be able to cover all the "bets" or "rolls" made any given day and that can be hard to determine and the swings could leave you in a bind. Estimating these numbers are relatively easy though - I like to use the freebitco.in data on volume and payouts to estimate how much the daily or weekly financial obligation would be for payouts.

starting a faucet is not good idea right now. as other member said you may need 5+5BTC investment , you can invest 10BTC in another good project and earn good money, much more profit then running a faucet

In my opinion Faucet are just a waste of time..still if you want to open a faucet then you just need to have atleast $10 for domain $80 for premium hosting and gather lots of advertisers you can and also traffic and yes also some good amount of bitcoin to pay to users

If you just want open a faucet website, i think you almost don't have to prepare money for it.
You could use free VPS, faucet script, free theme, free domain & set it together on your VPS & ready.

But, of course it would be better if you use paid VPS & domain

agree, but the point here is how many users he want to have? i mean if you want to have arround 1000 users per day and you want to give the 100-1500 satoshis on each click every hour ( for example ), this will compensate what you could win with the ads?

he should do the maths to see if this is profitable for him

Honestly I don't have much Bitcoin for sure but the answers on the topic seems little bit unbalanced , some people are saying that I should need like 10-100$ tops but the first answer says 10 BTC It's not even close .

I'am willing to use paid domain , .com which is better for SEO and I'am not really planning to use FaucetBox or any simillar website that use a third party , I want something that pays directly to the user adress and honestly didn' tfind any Open source for that , something like Freebitco.in should do the job and I'am not sure how it would cost to hire a developper to do that job .

Actually, you can set up a faucet for at least a price of 0,1 BTC (look at the Services section, there are some offers). Marketing costs not that much if you choose xapo or faucetbox. you will listed in their faucet-rotator.
