I had this idea a few days ago and decided to start work on it. I know there are a lot of gambling games out there, but not that many games like bitcoin minefield. I decided to make a few simple games in java like minefield game (link in my sig) and set up a site for it. So far I am working on chess, checkers, minesweeper, and a few others. I am not that good at php so that will probably be the hard part. The way it will work is the user makes an account, and has his own wallet on said account (using BlockChain API) for each game you will be able to play with a certain amount of BTC (again a lot like the minefield game) and then play, if he wins, he gets his whatever he bet * the multiplier, if not, 0. People will also be able to submit their own games, and get a % of peoples losses on that game.

Does anyone else think this is a good idea, or has this been done, or am I crazy and this is stupid?

All help is appreciated

Sounds fun, I will take a look.

If you want your games to catch on... start an affiliate/referral system.   ;-)

Huh

Also, if you're "not that good at php", please PLEASE have someone who IS good at PHP check over the security of your site thoroughly.  It sounds like you'll be storing people's coins, and a newbie coder storing people's coins is a bad idea (as evidenced by the last 500 hacks that have happened).

Even if you are using their API, that doesn't mean the security of your own side of the code is secure.
Feel free to allow me to take a look at the code and I'll let you know about any flaws and assist you in patching them.
