Yeah, but I like how there's no frontier. I'm personally surprised at the top 5 and how it's far from being a US-centralized technology. It proves that Bitcoin works, and it's only a matter of time before more people adopt it.

Seems to be a definite bias towards cold climates.  I wonder whether that will change with ASIC mining.

Bitcoin magazine claim near 1 milion of bitcoin users (is 0,01% of the whole word population or 40 every 100000 intenet user). There'll be at least 1000 shops (from bitpay alone) accepting bitcoins and this is 0.04 over 100.000 internet user. From the source of your data, if the numbers are correct, there are only 16500 nodes in the whole world. I think that some node is not properly counted for some reason

Not really surprising countries imo. Nordic countries + several english speaking countries and a couple of other active european countries.

Bitcoin has made considerable progress in Finland in the past few months, with a veggie burger restaurant chain, a dentist office, a funeral service, soon a movie theater, and many others accepting Bitcoin in Finland.

This isn't really surprising. I would assume a majority of more casual users don't run nodes but have a web wallet of some sort, thereby not showing up in these statistics.

mmm could it have something to do with the ratio of population relative to the number of internet connections in that country?
poplation vs internet use becours these countries are widespread with low population i,m just guessing..

Has to be, I feel like more than 6000 people in the USA are involved in BTC. Maybe not though?

I think that there is some problem with the nodes showed: I've 2 active nodes from 2 different IP but neither shows in the list

I, too, wondered about that earlier, but on the page it does say "List of nodes blockchain.info is connected to", which admittedly does not imply "List of all nodes", so that's probably the explanation.

Number of nodes is much lower than number of users, they should not be compared. Also, 1 million is probably very optimistic number, my guess is much lower (200k).

Personally, I think it's even less than 200.000. If only 10% of all users would run a full node, it would be about 40.000 BTC Users. Nuber of total Nodes connected = 4337.

For what concerns Finland and Sweden, I think it's due to the quality of internet literacy and their education to democracy, as well as the purchasing power of citizens: average salaries are very high so I'd say they can afford buying GPUs for fun - or maybe for home heating 
Same could be said for Iceland, and on top of that the price of electrical power supply are ridiculously low over there, thanks to geothermal power plants.

Avout Slovenia, power prices are moderate but maybe there are some individuals that are heavily investing in bitcoins, whatever their purpose.
Canada I don't know?
