Safe way buying BTC in Ireland?

Hey all,
I want to buy some BTC have done before threw localbitcoin but I have read i can be a dodgy site? I just want to buy my coin
safely my preferred method would be a debit card (Pre Paid) Can anyone recommend some safe sites to buy from?

Also a wallet... Last time I used localbitcoin I just transferred my coin from he wallet on LBC straight to its destination.
What I want is to buy as much coin as I can at a time and put it in a safe wallet of my own then when I have enough
coins built up or what I need use that wallet to send to destination. So can anyone help with a safe wallet? What I need
do and such.

Well if I were you I would continue buying from Localbitcoins unless if something like Coinbase is available in your country

There seem to be ATMs in Dublin. Although the exchange rate isn't optimal, it's probably as safe as it gets.

As for your wallet, if you use the ATM, you'll probably want a mobile one but it's a good idea to store your keys/funds in a safer place afterwards.

I don't live in Ireland so I don't have all the information you need.

Localbitcoins is very safe for the buyer as long as you follow the trader's instructions and you don't go outside of the LBC escrow system. It is difficult to buy bitcoins with credit card, pre-paid debit card, gift card, and paypal because they are all prone to fraud. Your best options are face-to-face cash, cash bank deposit, or some irreversible payment systems that are not available in the U.S.

As for a wallet, avoid ones that you access through a website. Mycelium and Airbitz are good phone wallets. Electrum is a good computer wallet. I don't quite understand how you want to use your bitcoins, but after you buy the bitcoins on Localbitcoins, you can easily send them to your Mycelium/Airbitz/Electrum wallet, and then you can spend them whenever you want.

I'd try Xapo - based out of Switzerland. Or you could try Circle or Coinbase (although I don't know if Coinbase operates in Ireland).

With pre paid, best services is Coinbase. Circle is good, too. Coinbase is a California based company (for more info, look here https://www.coinbase.com/about). Circle (https://www.circle.com/en/about) has a great mobile app. Check out the fees, and try what you prefer.
For securing your wallet, use one of the tutorials in this forum.

Using debit card to get Bitcoins is quite hard. Coinbase doesn't work in Ireland and Circle may work. I would either go for virwox.com (high fee and low limits) or verify a paypal account and find someone to trade with in the currency exchange section, remember to find someone with high trust ratings or go to localbitcoins.com.

Im not near Dublin so ATM is out. Im going to use LBC I have found a seller in Ireland who has the same bank as me and accepts payments threw out bank. His add is as soon as the funds are deposit from my account to his the BTC will be instant, to my wallet. He has a good rep so all seems fine.

Now I jst need to setup a secure wallet, I am going to try Eletrum. I have no phone at the moment. My Nexus has a broken screen I am just waiting for a new screen to come to put it in. Should be here in the next day or so.... Would ye say hold out and use a wallet on my Nexus or just try out Electrum?

Nothing stops you from having a wallet on your phone and one on your computer.

I have 3 "types" of wallet including my cold storage. It just depends on what you're using your wallets for and how convenient the solution is.

bittylicious.com takes card payments in Euros I think. There can be a bit of a premium but it works well and very quickly. I'm not sure a prepaid card will work though. Worth investigating.

the best way to buy bitcoin is to buy it with cash and from someone near you face to face, but nobody has that opportunity so buying from Localbitcoins and coinbase are the best options in my opinion.
and whichever wallet you choose is not going to be safe until you make it safe by for example setting up a password for encrypting your wallet and private keys, making and offline version of the wallet, etc

Try not to use it on your phone. I wouldn't go for setting up a wallet on Nexus since it would have less security, you can easily lose your phone and if you do not have a backup, you would lose your coins. Android isn't too secure right now with the numerous security issues that has been popping out. Use a desktop wallet, electrum, multibit or Bitcoin Core. I would prefer electrum and multibit myself, just make sure that you have no virus on your computer by scanning it with a antivirus(Not 100% foolproof) and make a backup of the seed or private key.
