I don't understand why you want to pass your time by loosing money? Don't you have any other  good ways of passing time where you don't need to loose money as there are many ways to spend money and from where you can get something back in return.

Seems very difficult to rely on gambling to make a profit much less for long term. Because in gambling, emotions play a huge role.

yeah we mostly used our emotions rather than common sense , cool head and reasonable options. gambling always leading people to make mistakes and ended up with bad things , noone could completely handle it smoothly . and make gambling profitable in the long run itself are not something that easy to realized , it's insanely difficult.

It is not controlled by a people as far as i know it is systematize or the system on every gambling makes it go round and people monitors it. So its too possible to earn a profit in the long term .So its better to do trading than to expect in gambling.
