What's wrong with this picture? I've been mining on various pools for 2 days and have a 0 balance, though at least 2 pools have reported payout. I've tried running bitcoin.exe with -rescan and I'm mining at the moment with phoenix on deepbit pool. 600mhash/s with my two 5830's oc'd and I'd really like to see the coins rolling in  Huh

once you run bitcoin.exe you have to let it run for hours before it downloads all the blocks. Your payouts are most likely towards 128k+ blocks so it will not be displayed immediately.  Give it at least an hour or two before it picks them up.

Check whether the pools are actually reporting a payout or a reward. Most pools pay out when you've got 1BTC in their system.

If they are reporting a payout, there should be a transaction ID with it, so look it up.

I think you can download the full up-to-date blockchain here:

http://bitcoin.bluematt.me/bitcoin-nightly/blockchain-nightly/

Disclaimer:  I just saw that link in irc one day.  I've never used any of those files, so I can't vouch for them, but it seems legit.

Something like that is definitely needed as the client can take a really like time to get the block chain.  Maybe somebody should start a torrent of the latest block chain, say, once a week or something like that.

Bitcoin Fact: the price of bitcoin will not be greater than $70k for more than 25 consecutive days at any point in the rest of recorded human history.
