How do you keep track of all the altcoins?
Where can I get information on a specific one?

You can look on various exchanges and find the coin with the worth that you are looking for.
You can take a look at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0 for new, (and old) altcoin announcements everyday!

Hi there, I'm from South Africa.
This means I'm poor, I guess.

I can second coinmarketcap. They do not have ALL of the currencies but most of the ones that carry any sort of market weight.

Yes, map of coins is a great website with a nice visualization. I've been trying to remember what this website was called actually.

But I doubt there's a single resource including all cryptocurrencies. You could try and browse the announcement board if you want more. Most cryptocoins that were launched to the public had an announcement or at least a mention here.
