Cups and Cakes Bakery in San Francisco now accepts bitcoins!

They are already using an iPad point-of-sale, they added bitcoin and BitPay for zero additional cost.

Is this an actual iPad app on the app store?  Or is it a web app, or one that requires a jail break?  This would be a very exciting breakthrough, given that the credit card machine is starting to get displaced by headphone jack credit card readers for mobile devices.  How convenient that iPad and iPhones already have a QR code scanner built in, and could also be made to accept paper bitcoins and bitcoin gift cards.

Companies claiming they got hacked and lost your coins sounds like fraud so perfect it could be called fashionable.  I never believe them.  If I ever experience the misfortune of a real intrusion, I declare I have been honest about the way I have managed the keys in Casascius Coins.  I maintain no ability to recover or reproduce the keys, not even under limitless duress or total intrusion.  Remember that trusting strangers with your coins without any recourse is, as a matter of principle, not a best practice.  Don't keep coins online. Use paper or hardware wallets instead.

Mike it is a webpage designed for use on a phone or tablet. Right now it's just a large screen version of our Mobile Checkout. But we will add new features to it soon. The banknotes are something we would like to support.  No extra scanner required!

So it avoids the whole Apple censorship issue for those merchants who wish to use Apple products as their POS.

Concerned that blockchain bloat will lead to centralization? Storing less than 4 GB of data once required the budget of a superpower and a warehouse full of punched cards. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/87/IBM_card_storage.NARA.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card

Are you doing point-of-sale processing for anyone who is not appearing on the Real World Shops wiki?

The map is showing seven restaurants/cafes in the USA.

Electrum client is awesome. Try it. And please stop sending bitcoins to sites run by security newbies, or don't complain when you lose everything.
