There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

it's very hard to tell from the pic but it looks like the 256mb version to me

It's definitely a 256MB version. It's also prior to the recent revision which added two mounting holes to the PCB.
These first revision boards might be collectors items someday!

someday I already have a few RPis laying around or I'd get this since it has a case I use this case with my Pi: https://www.adafruit.com/products/859It slides and snaps together and the Pi just sits in there, so there's a bit of give here and there, but it's pretty good overall.

Which case is that you are using in the picture? Is the material some form of cloth? I'm not sure, I think it's some sort of plastic. It's not soft like cloth.
