Bitcoin does not work because people do not trust to buy things with bitcoin. I have a site running now for 5 months selling precious metals, made plenty of sales with credit card, bank transfer, no problems but not a single bitcoin purchase!

What is the point in bitcoin again?

As a cam girl I think that's why big box sites did away with btc. They probably saw that there are far too many people afraid to use it or don't trust enough to send it that they'd do better to just keep their focus on Visa/MC etc. It's the same thing with one business I'm in. I signed up and I have about 250 referrals that all came from a btc ptc site. I was ecstatic at first but then I realized not one of them has even put a few btc in to get it going. 99% are all hoping they're going to profit off of that 20 euro promotion without putting a dime or even a btc in. The rest have stated they'll deposit money from a credit card or do a wire but btc ? Nada.

Duh, I would but it would be disrespectful on my SO.

Keep it up, I think in your case it's a matter of getting the right visibility. For other kinds of txs it just doesn't make much sense at the moment.

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Well I think a lot of it has to do with what you sell, perhaps people find Bitcoin more valuable than what you sell, so why on earth would they purchase something that will one day not be worth as much as what they paid for.

This could be interesting with a lot of what Bitcoin has to offer, people don't want to spend their coins on anything because if the value goes up, what they bought at that time will not be the same price in the future.

If someone uses some of their Bitcoins to purchase something and then they want more Bitcoins, it's no big deal, they can just acquire more Bitcoins.

You make it sound so easy, if I were to spend .5 coins, it would take me a long time to get those coins back.  How do you make so much Bitcoins if you are able to spend it and just get more, please elaborate I would love to earn more Bitcoins..

Bitcoin is working exactly as it should. Things work according to "supply and demand." By supply and demand, I don't limit it to trading only. what I mean is, water seeks its own level. Water runs down hill, and finds the easiest path down. People do it the easy way.

Bitcoin is beta. When you are talking about something like a worldwide currency, you are talking getting all the problems solved before you dump it on people as something that absolutely works. As we can see from the block size disagreements, Bitcoin isn't fully worked out yet.

People will do what they think benefits them. When Bitcoin shows more benefit, it will be used more.

Bitcoin works. It's just that people don't see the value... yet.

Maybe you got the customers who just don't know anything about bitcoin.

But does it care?? Do you run a business to get profit or to sell stuff for bitcoin? Just keep the option to pay with Bitcoin and maybe someday people are getting using it.

At the other hand lots of people buy gold for investments just like bitcoin. Why could they buy a investment with a other?

BIG WINNER!

From what I've seen (and my own mentality) no one wants to spend Bitcoins. There is a hassle to obtaining Bitcoins, and therefor there is a premium. The cost of paying for a $10 thing with cash, credit card, paypal, whatever is $10. The cost of paying with Bitcoin is substantially higher due to the time you put in when trying to obtain the Bitcoins. The only time I see people buying a lot of things with Bitcoin is after a price surge.

Its like if a store accepted Cash, Bitcoins, and Gold/Silver. No one would pay with Gold/Silver unless they had to, because $10 worth of silver will actually cost something like $12 or better due to the minting premiums. Same idea with Bitcoin, though it has more to do with difficulty of obtaining, so why not use your useless cash?

If the OP wants to "send the gold first" then maybe someone would offer to pay for it with an irreversible payment system like Bitcoin. Cheesy

Oh, perhaps you shouldn't spend money (Bitcoins or any other kind) if you can't afford it.  I've never "earned" any Bitcoins even once.  I have only ever been given gifts of Bitcoins and I have bought them.  How did you earn yours?

I was just saying that you make it sound easy to get coins, I don't spend them if I can't afford them.  I didn't mean to push buttons I was just curious if you had a good way of getting coins because you sounded so easy about it.

It is too much trouble for the average person to buy bitcoins.  Look at the GUI on most exchanges  - way too complicated! Then wait an hour for confirmations!? When the onboarding process is super simple and fast and convenient, things will begin to change. Circle understands it. Nobody else does.

May be if you offer other than precious metal, people may rush to buy with bitcoins.
But there is a modern saying among bitcoin community. Only stupids spend bitcoin now itself. So, everybody want to be wise.

The time has not come yet. To spend bitcoin, you must first have bitcoin, and then hold it for several years until its value doubled many folds, and then you start to spend a small part of it

And as long as exchanges exists, people can always sell for fiat money and then spend fiat money more conveniently. The only people who has to spend bitcoins are those who are traveling abroad and lacking a good means of access local fiat currency

You do not have to wait, spend it, enjoy it. Just yesterday I ordered some sushi, it was a nice meal and I would not have spent my fiat on it, because I thought it was a bit expensive, but the bitcoins I have acumulated I use to enjoy things in life I normaly would not buy with my fiat money, I have a small income, and earn bitcoins on the side, just for fun. I do have the luxury I can order food via a trusted company using bitcoin. I can hold my coins and see them grow or shrink, whatever comes in the future, or I could enjoy my life and enrich it with the use of bitcoin, that is what I do. So besides me, there are other people spending bitcoin, would be nice to have some statistics to show how many orders from 'takeaway.com' are paid in bitcoin.

not not believe the purchase with bitcoin, but still many people who do not know how to use and get it, maybe it is a major problem that will be faced by beginners, because so many coins are almost the same as bitcoin that make people confused

it's not that they do't trust to buy things, they don't trust bitcoin itself, its volatility, its security, all things that are against what the average people want

they don't want to take care about other things other than the best simplicity they can have when they do a payment

Ever heard of that Bitcoin is like digital gold? There are many Bitcoin holders who see their stash as an future investment and as a store of value. With Bitcoin moving all around the globe is pretty easy. How do I do that with a gold bar?
Furthermore Bitcoin is still used by maybe 500k-1 million active users. That's not really much.
