I can see this kind of "links" on certain pages and in this forum.
What is it good for?  It doesn't do anything in my browser.
What is it supposed to do?  What does it do in your browser?
Maybe brings up the bitcoin client?

If you have one installed, yes.  On my iPhone, for instance, tapping a bitcoin: URL will open the Blockchain.info app.

Really new to bitcoin eh? If you are talking about addresses that look more like 1JuEmisSSH8iXqZ5dNi8XpF7B8uD7e2hqW, those are bitcoin addresses!

Lost of reading ahead for you, but it will be worth it. Welcome to the world of cryptocurrencies friend. :-)

I think clicking them opens a transaction menu to the specified address (in bitcoin-qt or similar) where you can specify the amount yourself. Like a barcode you can scan with your phone.
