I thought I'd make a thread to keep track of members dumping spam posts as I come across them - they post useless and obvious "me too" one liners all over the forum immediately after joining or after a period of inactivity, solely to pump up their post count, to increase the perception of reputation or participation on the forum. Scams likely to come. If you're not a scammer, this is your "you're not adding anything useful" warning. 1. HolyScott - recent posts2. BitcoinOxygen - recent posts - dumps spam, then starts a "pool"; also BTCOxygen3. josephliton - recent posts - signature spam 4. hobo66. - recent posts - Posts 100 crap posts, profile impersonating another member, then the loan request comes. 5. SimpleMan - recent posts - Lots of redundant and me too posts. Post yours; I'll add to the first post if they are good examples of this.

For a while, I did see a flurry of Newbies posting b2b2b2b2b... images on the 21 Million Images thread, coupled with very short regular posts. The names elude me, but if I do rediscover them, I will surely let you know.

OK, sometimes only a view seconds between posts in totally different threads, that's really suspicious. And warning of post count pumpers should really be necessary, especially for newbees. I remember when I joined the forum, I thought anyone with more than 100 post must be a BTC God.

Yep, definitely watch out - if they request a loan or anything don't trust them AT ALL.

Guys, its your own responsibility to check thte history of a user you dealing with. Postcount is no indication for a users trust, check the user posts and what they wrote, i personally explicit look for the first posts of a user and the last posts. And beside that,my fav quote (little controverse, i know..): "past results are no indication for future performance"

Check user "hobo66." whose name is very similar to another user "Hobo66". Post count pumping the fuck out of the Count to 21M thread. Now (surprise surprise!) he's requesting a loan: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=122082.0

Seriously? What did I do? This topic is about post-count pumpers and I've done nothing of the sort. I've never been accused of being a scammer before. It feels bad.

I see nothing wrong with your activity and won't be listing you here. The pumpers typically post a dozen posts in an hour that add nothing to the discussion threads.

I think I may have jumped the gun about you. You're definitely not a PCP'er, but your loan request timing just set off some alarms for me. I'll edit my post out.

Useless post spam now thanks to Butterfly Labs, they have contest rules that encourage putting their signature in and spamming the forum. Added josephliton, but I could pretty much add everyone that is on their contest page.

I do have a good rep at bitcointrading.com (jazzhandzer over there)

It's always good if you can prove that somehow. Maybe register a gpg signature and publish a signed certificate there or something like that.
