Yeah, Satoshi did create it. He doesn't have control of it anymore as far as I'm aware, though (if he is still around). There's a whole system for administrating the forum now, but that's a separate topic.

Bitcointalk.org founded by theymos in June 2011. Bitcoin.org founded by satoshi in 2009.
I think you are wrong here. theymos is not the founder of bitcointalk, Satoshi is. As far as I know after satoshi left the forum, he gave administrator access to theymos. And he had been operating managing bitcointalk ever since. I can be wrong thought. Others can clear this.

EDIT: I just checked the threads and yes, Satoshi is the main man behind everything.

It is not bitcointalk.org back then it is bitcoin.org. Gavin talk to goverment guys and satoshi got cold feet and disappear in April 2011.  Michael copy the bitcoin.org and named it bitcointalk.org in june 2011. https://who.is/whois/bitcointalk.org

It's strange you've posted in a topic which hasn't seen activity for 8 years. It's so old even the OP's hasn't been online for 4 years. If you'd read the replies you would've seen the reply.

You've answered a question which's already been answered 8 years ago. Why did you dig up this topic?

Bitcointalk.org founded by theymos in June 2011. Bitcoin.org founded by satoshi in 2009.
Founded, what does it mean in your context?

Created, founded, managed are different.

Satoshi created the forum in 2009. Theymos two years later became one of forum administrators, after Satoshi Nakamoto left. The story of how theymos became a forum adminstrator is boring and if you are a coder, joined Bitcointalk in 2009, you can became an administrator too.

Jeff Garzik bought this domain and also invented the name Bitcointalk for the Bitcoin forum. Satoshi Nakamoto or theymos did not do it, but Jeff Garzik.

It's surprising how well-documented history can become totally forgotten... Satoshi created the forum on Nov 22, 2009, and was head administrator until almost 2011. Then Sirius was head administrator until 2012, which is when I took over.

Cobra also owns the bitcointalk.org domain name. I consider the forum to be basically owned by or at least dedicated to the Bitcoin community, though; I don't call anyone an owner of the forum.

That wiki article is kind of terrible...

- I was made a forum admin in 2011, after Satoshi left. (Silk Road also appeared after Satoshi left.) I didn't have any special access to bitcoin.org until around 2013, and in fact I didn't even have any access to the bitcointalk.org DNS until 2013.

The story of how I became head admin is actually pretty boring. Moderators were needed, so I was made a global moderator. Then admins were needed, so I was made an admin. Then over time the other admins slowly lost interest and resigned until I was the only one left. I guess most of the people who were around here to see this have more-or-less left the community now. That's a bit sad.

It's not entirely clear, but for simplicity I usually say that I became head admin at the beginning of 2011, a little over a year after the forum was created.

The forum was originally located at bitcoin.org/smf, then forum.bitcoin.org (hence the redirect), and finally bitcointalk.org. Fun fact: The name "bitcointalk" was invented by Jeff Garzik, and he's the one who bought the domain.

There was a period where both Sirius and I were active administrators. For convenience, I reckon Jan 1, 2012 as when I became head administrator, though it was actually a gradual transition starting before and ending after that.

Did you read and understand those posts?

Jeff Garzik invented the forum name, bought the domain name. It's all Jeff Garzik did.

Satoshi Nakamoto created the forum that was originally hosted at bitcoin.org/smf that was registered in 2008. Bitcointalk.org was registered in 2011.
Satoshi created both bitcoin.org and this forum, which was originally at bitcoin.org/smf. Later, the forum got its own domain name, but due to this history, bitcoin.org and bitcointalk.org have traditionally been linked, and for quite some time Cøbra and I have together managed the domain names. However, Cøbra has never had much involvement in bitcointalk.org's operation, and I haven't involved myself in bitcoin.org for a couple of years, so the linkage between the two no longer really made made any sense. Therefore, we decided to separate the domains: I no longer have any access to the bitcoin.org domain name, and Cøbra no longer has any access to the bitcointalk.org domain name. The two sites should be viewed as totally separate, which in practice they have been for years.

There will be no changes whatsoever on bitcointalk.org due to this, and I'd assume that the same will be true of bitcoin.org. The bitcoin.org open-source project has been advancing steadily, and I hope and expect that it will continue to do so thanks to the efforts of its contributors.

Thanks to Cøbra for handling much of bitcointalk.org's domain-name-related work in the past.

What did you mean when you used "Who created Bitcointalk?"

Buying a domain name does not equal to create Bitcointalk forum.

Without Satoshi Nakamoto, this domain can be used for a Bitcoin Ponzi project.

Migration of a forum from an original domain to a new domain does not mean Bitcointalk.org is a clone of Bitcoin.org/smf or forum.bitcoin.org.

The initial Bitcoin forum is http://bitcoin.sourceforge.net/boards/index.php

Welcome to a new Bitcoin forum

If Bitcointalk will migrate to https://epochtalk.org/, Epochtalk.org will not be a clone of Bitcointalk.org

There have been controversies and different thought about who created Bitcointalk, I think is Satoshi Nakamoto and handed it to thymos no doubt about that checking from ok people's comment above I think it is already proven and links attached to it.

I'm not really sure about who's the real founder of this forum but if you see the account of the Satoshi Nakamoto then you'll see that he got the founder tag on his profile and I guess he's the founder of this forum as well. The forum has been managed by Theymos for many years and he may be the founder or creator of this domain name but the forum of the forum is Satoshi Nakamoto.

This forum created by Satoshi in 2009 when bitcoin was created. but He moderated the forum until December 2010, after which he became totally inactive. Since then this forum is managed by Theymos and some donors help to manage the forum whose list you can find here - https://bitcointalk.org/donate.html

And this forum is decentralized so everyone gets freedom here to use

If you think the OP's asking about registering the bitcointalk.org web domain it's Jeff Garzik. He didn't say anything about bitcoin.org he's asking about bitcointalk.org. We don't know if he means who's registered the forum name but the forum's founded by Satoshi it doesn't matter if it's copied from bitcoin.org it's founded by Satoshi.

It's been 4 years the OP hasn't been online so we can't ask him to explain his question but he's asked I was wondering who founded bitcointalk

It's strange you've posted in a topic which hasn't seen activity for 8 years. It's so old even the OP's hasn't been online for 4 years. If you'd read the replies you would've seen the reply.

Base on this, there's nothing to argue anymore about the creator of bitcointalk, Satoshi Nakamoto created it and ever since it has been managed by the people in charge of it administration and everything is well explained through the link provided, it surprised me to see that alot of people have alre contributed this much to the donation of bitcoin to the forum, i never thought they were this much, they are part of the success to this forum.

Satoshi nakamoto is the founder of Bitcointalk but we don't know If it is a group of people or one person cause Satoshi is anonymous and after Satoshi founded this forum and a year and a month Satoshi's account is being in active till date. But before it happens Satoshi choose a forum member who will become a administrator which is theymos and also Cyrus is administrator of this forum. Maybe Satoshi is still around but we don't know cause it's still anonymous.
