What are the best countries in the world to start and run bitcoin businesses? For example, crypto-equity exchanges, bitcoin gambling, sites like purse.io, etc. Are there any like this that welcome these sort of businesses and can these businesses avoid scrutiny from foreign regulators or do they still have to comply with the regulations affecting their customers? Thanks!

Unless you're all BTC you need a bank account. Although they're semi autonomous their banking is linked to the UK and no bank there yet wants to play. You can have the friendliest environment ever but without banking it's pretty pointless.

I think that Switzerland would be a good place to open a bitcoin business in. They have strong privacy laws which would protect your users, and Switzerland is also a Financial hotspot in europe.

I've heard of this, but does anyone on here know the living costs of living there? I'm currently on a hunt to find a new refuge to move too... I'm tired of being in the U.S. and looking to move to a nice place to live, and being in a place that accepts bitcoin as a currency sounds like a good place to go too. I looked up some pictures of the place and it looks very nice. Does anyone else know of more information about here?

I would also add Netherlands to the above mentioned Switzerland and Isle of Man. Netherlands is by far the most open minded country and the country where Bitcoin adoption has advanced the most in comparison with the number of its citizens.

Yeah that is true. Switzerland is the fianasol hospot in europe but did their banks accept bitcoin? I didn't read any news about that before. Our authorities decided not to regulate it at the moment. But our banks doesn't accept bitcoin directly. We have exchange plateform, like everywhere else and you are free to use bitcoin. But bitcoins earning are subject to federal taxation (like every fiat earning..). But it's true we have several BTC business coming here (Xapo for exemple...)

Depending on what you mean by country being good for bitcoin business.
2 things I consider the most important is the VAT situation and being able to open a bank account.
With the European Court ruling on VAT this week, it seems that any EU country should be a good base. Until now UK and Switzerland were the only countries in Europe where it was clear that bitcoin transactions are not subject to VAT.
In the UK it is notoriously difficult to open a bank account if you are running a bitcoin business. Countries where banks are more bitcoin-friendly include Germany, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Poland and Estonia.

China is a place to trade bitcoin. The trade volume there is quite high even if you discount that by 95%.
Most bitocin miners are made in China as well. It has most of mining operation in the world.

I guess China and Hong Kong, because of their large exchanges.
The use and trade of Bitcoin are not banned in Hong Kong. In fact, there are a number of businesses that accept payment in bitcoins. But authorities will not tolerate the use of bitcoins in money-laundering or other criminal activities. As a reputable exchange based in Hong Kong, this means we have to apply strict AML and KYC procedures. In this way, traders on our platform are guaranteed that their trades go smoothly. Update: If you start a business in Hong Kong dealing with bitcoins, you may want to read up on this: http://e27.co/will-new-regulations-affect-fintech-startups-hong-kong-20151123/
