In last year, some news said that it will come in this year, but now it seems to be late, now I would say I will expect it in next year. Just give them time so that they could make sure everything is OK.

it takes patience, certainly the staff is working on this project and how I can imagine it is not a simple thing to do in 10 minutes.

I like the current forum layout. It just feels natural and easy to use/navigate around. But a new forum would probably suit since this current software is so old fashioned.

I heard about this a year ago and they still haven't replaced it yet? Is there an official opinion of when it's going to go for the new forum software?

I guess no official announcement has been made regarding the Launch date, all the dates are just tentative.
Will be embracing it as i think it will be more Robust to Hacks and we will definitely get a new Look.

Well the SMF forum that we are currently using right now is buggy and sometimes, disrupts the user experience. To further satisfy the forum users' needs. we should get a new and better place to flock in and discuss ideas together. Besides, where should the donation money for the forum go other than the forum itself, right?

The purpose of the forum is to share news and discuss about bitcoin. The current SMF platform is fine as it is. It's nice to have a new forum with nicer and updated interface. That's just icing on the cake. We are not in a hurry to "upgrade". I actually would like to see a nice bitcoin tipping system implemented since this is a bitcoin forum, but I remember reading that theymos don't want to hold any coins on behalf of the users.

Theymos doesn't have to hold the coins.
There are already other tipping services like change tip. The new forum can be integrated with change tip and so theymos wont have to worry about holding coins.
Also, is it even confirmed that we'll get to see the forum next year?

No. There was never a exact date and most likely never will be one. Maybe once they are certain 100% they might announce it a few days prior to release. Anyhow, the official statement was after February 2015. Next year is still within that time frame.

SMF is broken (technically not always but still). Theymos patched up a ton of stuff and occasionally more exploits come up (e.g. recently people with 'invisible characters' in their name).

you mean 2016 right?

this new forum stuff and discussion around is quite tricky, at least for me. I didn't add any funds, so I should just be quiet (I know:), but considering how much it costs, what kind of "company" is behind and how long it takes, it seems somehow fishy, at least for me. In other hand, I don't have so much experience with software development project and maybe this is standard behaviour + I don't know about any similar 1.5M USD software project like this one. anyway, official repo is still somehow updating/adding new portions of code (https://github.com/epochtalk/epochtalk), so lets all hope, that it will happen sometimes in 2016.
