http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Litecoin

If you don't get at least 3 or more media mentions for Litecoin, you're not staying on Wikipedia.

Fucking deletionist scum.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Article_Incubator/Litecoin

I put it in the incubator so all the work isn't lost. It's going to be deleted if we just leave it alone. This is how the Bitcoin article survived its first deletion.

Hmmm yeah surprised with the ever closing dates of first ASIC being released would have thought some of the BIG LTC investors would have spread the word on social media outlets, is this perhaps a sign of LTC speculative hoarders sitting on coins waiting for them to be worth more without actually doing anything positive for the currency?? or is it more a reflection that there are just sooo many outlets for information spreading that its hard to keep up with them all?

was LTC 1 year birthday to the other day, surely that would / could have generated some interest... ?
recent price rise to??

anyway do hope LTC does get some good publicity

Not that I see.

Protip: Create a subsection on the Bitcoin page under "Forks" or "Projects based on Bitcoin" and expand it.

If it grows sufficiently large you can discuss a new article. Don't try to provide "press coverage" and try to stay objective, wikipedia mods can tell Wink

I could arrange a theft of my 21 litecoins. Would that make some headlines?

Just have them mention how it proves that Litecoin is becoming valuable in addition to Bitcoin, as people are now stealing it. I live in Mexico, I could actually see how much it would cost to "buy" a reporter. Wouldn't be headline, but it'd be media.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Litecoin   - a big empty hole of nothing.

After the recent run up to $6 - we should be able to find the news articles necessary to get Litecoin on Wikipedia permanently now.

This needs to get done.

How is it we do not have a Litecoin dedicated page on Wikipedia with a BIG FAT COIN up there.

This is an important step towards wide LTC adoption.  It is time to come out from under the shadow of big brother BTC.

I will help with some links -

The Economist Magazine - http://www.economist.com/news/finance-and-economics/21576149-even-if-it-crashes-bitcoin-may-make-dent-financial-world-mining-digital (comments on Litecoin as an alternative and partial clone - by NAME)

Computer World - http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9238328/Bitcoin_rival_Ripple_looks_to_make_waves (talk about Litecoin and Ripple as Bitcoin RIVALS)

Ars Technica - http://arstechnica.com/security/2013/04/hide-your-kids-hide-your-btc-bitcoin-stealing-malware-emerges/ (comment on MtGox plans to add Litecoin trading)

Daily Recknoning Australia - http://www.dailyreckoning.com.au/bitcoin-and-the-monetary-revolution-in-crypto-currencies/2013/04/12/ (Bitcoin is one of many Cryptos - LTC named again)

Someone here must be established as an Wikipedia editor.

There are enough links already in this thread to make it happen.

Lets do this - en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?search=litecoin - should NOT BE BLANK.

Someone here has got to have moderation privileges over there.

We meet the standards now.

Again create a subsection on the Bitcoin page, citing those articles and it will be accepted to stay, even when altcoin haters try to delete it.

The difference in scrypt vs. a pure SHA format run by a few ASIC elites is enough of a difference at this point for Litecoin to get its own article.

I have seen plenty of unique articles on Wikipedia for things with much smaller differences.

Litecoin stepped out on its own during the past month and should have a Wikipedia page.  There is abundant mainstream media mention of it.

What is distinctive is they ONLY mention - Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Ripple.  No other ALTS/services are mentioned by name in these articles.

Litecoin should have a section under cryptocurrencies, it should also have a page of its own.

I would suggest gathering possibly 10-15 mainstream/global/media references - and I do not think they can take it down - if they do they would lose an appeal when something is distinctly mentioned on its own merits so much.

Also the Bitcoin page is locked to anyone not an established moderator.

_Edit_

LTC meets the standards of -

Subject, Notability, Sources.

How many independent sources are needed to avoid deletion? 10?
