Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

not true, i have 2 activated nodes, 4 more to go up

You can check this link with printscreen from wallet, there is like 490 Masternodes active

http://prntscr.com/phrwlv

p.s.
masternode.live is just a website, they started to taking fees for masternode coins, thats why IvanR didnt wanted to pay fee.

You can also check node count if you download latest Sibcoin wallet and check under Masternodes tab, or go to wallets debug console and type

masternode count

it will show you

total 490
ps_compatible 229;
enabled: 229
qualify:226

so 229 enabled masternodes, 226 only need to start it again.

It will be scary if Bittrex comes to mind removing SIB due to the lack of movement and silence of the developers. Then there will be a pursuit of price to zero.

Sibcoin Core 0.17.0.0 version available

Update is required for all users! Additional steps required for masternode owners and miners!

We are happy to announce the release of 0.17.0.0. Please download new version here: v0.17.0.0.

You can find more details here: https://sibcoin.org/en/news/44

If you are masternode owner you  need to do a few extra steps:

1. For each masternode, generate an operator key with the command:

bls generate

and save the received keys in your documents. Then, in the node configuration file (sibcoin.conf on the node server), write the following line:

masternodeblsprivkey={secret}

where instead of {secret} there should be a value from the secret field, obtained from the output of bls generate.

Otherwise, your node will not start.

2. Update Sentinel. This can be done using the command:

git pull

in the sentinel directory on the server with your node.

3. Restart the node on the server with the new version of sibcoind, and then reactivate it using your wallet upgraded to the new version (masternode start-many or art-alias).

After the "special transactions" are activated, you will also need to register your node as a DIP3 node, but this will happen no earlier than in 9-10 days, so we will inform about this additionally.

And one more detail. If you build binaries from source, you now need to build dependencies in the depends directory before the main build.

First you need to install cmake and curl packages.

Then you need to run make in depends, before calling configure for the main build. If everything goes right, then a directory with dependency binaries should appear in depends. Depending on your OS it can have different name, for example x86_64-pc-linux-gnu for 64-bit Linux systems.

After which, when you call configure, you need to add the --prefix `pwd`/depends/<host> parameter, for example:

./configure --prefix `pwd`/depends/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu

Everything else is as usual. But on older versions of Ubuntu (<16.04) and Debian (<9) you may face with problems due to older versions of packages.

Hi all!

At the moment, we have not been able to reach 80% of the updated masternodes on the network required for hardfork activation. However, a fairly large number of nodes have been updated (over 50%). We think it makes sense to lower the activation threshold to 51% to intensify the node update process. In this regard, another update based on version 17 will be released, in which we will lower the threshold for activating a hard fork to 51% of nodes in the very near future.

Those masternodes that have not been updated yet will be kicked out of the network after DIP3 is activated.

All miners please update to version 0.17.0.1:

https://github.com/ivansib/sibcoin/releases/tag/v0.17.0.1

Miners running v0.17.0.1 are going to signal DIP3 regardles of the readiness of the corresponding masternode. With 60%+ masternodes already running on v0.17.0.0 we believe it is safe to slightly speed up the migration this way.

This is fully backwards compatible and no update is required for (non-mining) nodes running on v0.17.0.0.

Thank you Smiley

Someone mentioned that to me, are you using Ubuntu 20.04, i think that could be the problem, my script is tested on 16.04, 18.04 and i didn't had any problems with cronjob.

This is part in code where it does Sentinel setup, maybe there is something different for ubuntu 20.04.

echo "* * * * * cd /home/sibcoin/sentinel && ./venv/bin/python bin/sentinel.py >/dev/null 2>&1" | sudo tee /etc/cron.d/sibcoin_sentinel

sudo chmod 644 /etc/cron.d/sibcoin_sentinel

Did you try "sudo crontab -e" and then enter

* * * * * cd /home/sibcoin/sentinel && ./venv/bin/python bin/sentinel.py >/dev/null 2>&1

I'm on 18.04 and I did this part to get that going: "sudo crontab -e"  and added that line ^ to it. The nodes have been working flawlessly since. Thanks again.

Bittrex is done and long gone. Its only a frontpage that holds the last resort between the life and complete death. I have a couple mongrels I intend to sick at whoever comes up to me with an argument, cos no argument can be made in a situation we are in which is a deadlock for all crypto. Everything stagnates in agony. if given a chance I would delist all markets listed and declare shitcoins illegal regardless of their valuation / what they have to offer.
