I would like to have a wallet on my mobile to hold a small amount of bitcoin.  One that I was considering was the blockchain wallet which I believe is both a web and mobile wallet. Has anyone used this and would the recommend it?  I'm also interested to hear if anyone considers other wallets to be better or have more security. Thanks

I have used it, since it allows me to import private keys without having to download the whole blockchain. I transfer the coins to electrum imediately tough  Grin (eventough i don't have a lot of BTC to begin with)

I personally have my doubts when using a web wallet... I have no physical evidence, just a gut feeling it's not a good idear to keep a lot of coins on a web wallet.

If you're searching for a good alternative: i find electrum a lot easyer to use (it also has an adroid version), as is multibit HD. If you have enough bandwith, time and diskspace, i would defenately consider using bitcoin core on your PC....

There is also the official bitcoin client for android and ios available on the app store. It takes some time to sync. but is easy to handle and very good interface. You can go to bitcoin website to know more.

Are you talking about blockchain.info?

There is no such thing as "official bitcoin". Maybe you mean bitcoin core, which is the "reference implementation", but its not official and its not available for phones.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

I have used the Blockchain.info both on web and on mobile and it seems to work fine. I would only trust it with small amounts though. "Bitcoin Wallet" in the Android Play Store is good too, I've used that quite a bit. Now I am testing Blocktrail's wallet on mobile (so far, so good).

I use Coinbase and Blockchain as a wallet but I am beginning to love Blockchain more that Coinbase because it almost have everything just the exchange part is missing. I can sign a message, verify a message, check transaction status and for some reason I feel like transaction is faster if blockhain is used. I don't recommend the mobile wallet not only for blockchain but for all that offers the service. Losing your phone or have your phone stolen will be a big problem.

After loosing control from my old btc address, I switched from Blockchain to Mycelium Android Wallet . It have great features like signing a messages directly from your android phone. Now its my 1st priority for doing most transactions from my Mycelium Android wallet.

there is a version that resemble very well core, for mobile, it called "bitcoin wallet"

OP i prefer local wallet and i usually avoid web wallet, unless they have insurance, like coinbase... for mobile the best seems what i've mentioned above together with Mycelium

-snip-

Yes, I use it, but its not official and its nothing like bitcoin core. It has its own subboard here[1] and is also known as "Schildbach App" after its main dev.

No, I have never used an online wallet and would advise against using them completely. Except maybe for some bitcoin dust.

If you need a cool wallet and you are using Android, go with mycelium. It's really sleek and it will serve you well for small amounts.

I am currently using blockchain wallet only on my PC as well as my android phone.
I can say blockchain android wallet is very fast and reliable..the only little bug is sometimes when you open the app,it shows your currency balance in -ve (not bitcoins) but it gets fixed when you restart the app.Other then that,i do not find any bugs Wink

Blockchain.info used to store my main wallet. It does provide the needs of what a normal user would need. It would definitely be one of the better online wallet if not for the various vulnerabilities. I moved my address from there ever since I realised I had 3-4 close shaves (My address would have been compromised if I used them at certain time.).

My recommendation is bither.net web and mobile wallet available.
don't store all your amount on web wallet/mobile wallet. better to move and keep on cold wallet.
