As usual looking around the fourm and saw a self moderated thread by a Newbie for selling Jr Member accounts surely that shouldn't be allowed for the fact that he / she can delete any comment he doesnt like and therefore be able to overpriced accounts to the noobs.

It's an advantage to the Mods because some thread starters don't like the thread they started to become like a discussion board while the thread is selling something like an account. So those who plans to spam that thread with comments just to increase post count will stay away from those kind of threads. It's a disadvantage to us because someone may have posted a warning but deleted because it's a self moderated thread. For me, there's only 2, the thread starter who decided to create a self moderated thread don't like spams on his thread or thread starter have something to hide.

The price of an account someone sells should be irrelevant whether it is overpriced or not and if that's the price they agree on then it's the newb's fault for not shopping for a better deal but most people create new accounts to sell their existing one and self mod to stop people from asking stupid questions or telling them that the price is too high etc so I don't think this is a great idea..

I don't have to ask you if I can open it or not. I can open a self-moderated thread whenever I want. Stop that rank fetishism.

i agree, auctions are one thing but the altcoin section should be a must, this kind of stuff its hurting the bitcoin network and no one gives a fuck cuz only newbies get scammed, thats all thats gonna be left of bitcoin if we dont take care of newbies, a bunch of bagholders that have no one to sell their coins to. Im not saying scams should be moderated but hell some of them are worked out hard and people will eventually fall, something should be done.

That's not a valid reason to restrict self moderation for newbies but I do support than Full Members and above should be able to start self moderation threads. The reason is that newbies delete the comments of people who can identify their alts and whom they have scammed. I've seen newbies who have been doing this in the Currency Exchange thread. Also, I feel that newbies shouldn't be allowed to leave trust ratings as most of them use it just to spam.

Hmmm you got a point there, i hope eventually we gather enough folks to yell loud enough and get some shit done against scamming in this forum, i know that the policy of the forum doesnt give a fuck about scammers but community should decide this kind of stuff.

Not all people behind self moderated threads want to hide, some members like Vod create self moderated threads because people may spam the thread with something that adds nothing to the discussion. While many people do create self moderated threads to hide negativity, I don't think a fee should be paid. I think the idea in the OP is a good one, but maybe make it to full members and above.

Wrong. Don't generalize things this way. Example: Danny Hamilton has a self moderated thread about his ignore list. He's certainly hiding something.
This wouldn't be a bad thing. I don't see many cases where newbies would need such a thread.

Bumpy, this needs more support. Why? Everybody have right to open self-moderated thread. If you don't like self-moderated threads then don't write to them. Open your own thread. I don't understand this strict people. You can't decide for others.
