Aside from those if you keep playing for a long time than you are bound to lose, its mathematically impossible for you to be profitable on the long run because of the odds of the house, there is always a house edge. Unless you play in a place with no house edge than you might overcome the house.

I know the house has always the advantage, am I going to be a productive gambler now? No. The whole thing still depends on luck and skill. The output doesn't care if you know about the house edge and how it works. Just like you said, back then you didn't mind it at all but you still won and managed to save some of the money.

The favor is always on the house because otherwise the gambling site would eventually shut down. If you bet 33% chance, you would expect that the average output after thousands of rounds that it would be 1 win every 3 rounds but it would be far from that. If once your a gambler to their site and you withdraw all your winnings house edge has their part with it. And if you are going to gamble again with your winnings they have their part again with it so they are going to have double time on getting profit with you.
