If you cant see the difference between Itbit and Coinbase, than you have no clue what Gemini is.

gemini might change the way we do trades, but it's better not to expect too much from it. it won't have a big impact on the price directly, maybe not even for the long term.

Having a new exchange that appeals to a different crowd of people certainly helps bitcoin. I imagine winklevoss will have some pull on corporate america, and hopefully with their service they'll set a good example and help bring some new money to bitcoin.

This is true - people are likely to be more interested in maybe investing simply because they are a household name.

Gemini's nothing like either itbit or coinbase. It's the precursor to a fully regulated US based ETF. The lack of one is what's stopped big players investing. How many times have we heard the "we've been hacked" story, It's eroded too much trust in the Bitcoin ecosystem for big players to consider putting their money in. Gemini is an exchange they can trust, and after the ETF starts they can invest without any security concerns.

Another pump and dump?

Who have doubts in coinbase please post the facts or arguments of its doubts. I am an user of coinbase and I am very satisfy from those. No any problem in two years of "collaboration". In everything.

Its not , at least I don't see it that way . I'am not sure about you guys but I personally see that they a bright future for both bitcoin and the Gemini exchange , the twins know what they are doing and I don't think they bought 1% of Bitcoin just to make a quick profit by pumping and dumping .

Yup. Similar to John McAfee.
The twins are known for:
1. Suing Mark Zuckerberg, getting $65 million.
2. [crypto-related] "Investing" "$1.5 million in seed funding of BitInstant, a bitcoin payment processor. However, in January 2014, Charlie Shrem, CEO of BitInstant, was arrested and charged with money laundering related to the Silk Road online black market investigation."--https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winklevoss_twins

I don't think Gemini is just another exchange like Coinbase. Gemini is really important since two huge investors are behind it. This is their way of giving back to the community. Then Gemini is important for the ETFs. Now when Gemini launches this means higher probability that ETFs will launch as well.

This exchange is based in New York, finally some good news for the New York state after all of the BitLicense mess. Also I think that this exchange will get us close to the Wall Street type of people.

In the end, it's always good to have another legit exchange, especially after Mt. Gox and all of the other exchange hacks.

Another pump and dump?

I read ultimately an article about the brothers Winklevoss who are behind Gemini exchange. I want to bring it here to give more info about those and their investment. Maybe this article can make the people to judge better about what is this exchange and their owners.

Gemini is important because we can point to another company in the eco system and say "they are legit...they are legal...they are trustworthy". This is very important given BTC's reputation with a large chunk of the population.
