Cheapest/easiest way to deposit over $1000 to bitcoin address?

I've always used bitinstant.com for quick transfer, but they have a $500 limit for MoneyGram and I don't have access to any other way to deposit cash. I don't mind waiting a bit, but I'd rather do it all in one go, maybe for less of a fee if possible.

I've been trying to use Bitcoin Direct but I'm having trouble getting PGP to work, and after a couple failed attempts to send my public key, he stopped answering my emails... Oh well. Guess I'm going to have to use bitinstant like 4-5 times...
