So everyone knows the story of the 10,000 BTC pizza a few years ago, lots of threads on it, yada yada yada... I saw a thread today and had a thought.

I looked back and realized that the "10,000 Bitcoin pizza" was bought from Papa Johns (I know the bitcoin wasnt actually spent at Papa Johns). My thought was what if Papa Johns used this in marketing and started accepting Bitcoin. That would be so great! They are a large well known company thats spread all across the US. It would provide legitimacy, expose a larger number of people to it and would allow people to use bitcoin in the real world rather than just online. They could market as the first ever bitcoin transaction and/or tie in something about how much those 10,000BTC would be worth (as if it were invested).

I wanted to suggest this but their website says they only accept suggestions from internal. http://www.papajohns.com/customer-service/
Does anyone know someone who owns/works at a Papa Johns and could sell them on the idea?

Thoughts?

Yeah but it is a pretty good "hook" for papa john. Find out who does their PR and send them a "pitch"
It could make a funny ad they might use or a promotional thing. It may already be on their radar. Integrating btc payments isn't so hard. They are probably scared of regulatory legal issues more than anything. They're part of history so they "own" the bragging rights anyway.

Drop them a fan mail about it, they might send you a coupon for one of their inedible pizza pies.

Bitcoin stil isn't mainstream enough for them to care. That would be a cool idea for the future.

The community begging merchants isn't going to get merchants to accept it, them being able to receive fiat without thinking about it is what merchants want especially large ones.

I strongly disagree. "....receive fiat without thinking about it" is certainly important, however if customer demand translates into greater revenues, they will gladly start accepting them.  IMO.

I think they would be definitely willing to accept Bitcoin, one way or another... And the 10000 BTC pizza would give a very nice publicity stunt indeed.

If they ended up accepting Bitcoin I think they could also claim themselves the first pizza chain/fast food chain accepting Bitcoin. Extra points for them...

It could be a useful slogan, piece of marketing for them.  There would be no rush though as they can do this at anytime, probably once it starts to get mainstream adoption.

If you have a FB account I suggest you to submit your idea here:

I think that's a great idea btw.

Go to one of the Papa Johns near your home and ask for the place when you can find their administration. If they don't give an answer, go to another. Continue in this way and hope that find someone which will tell you the place. Find a reason to tell those (must be convincing reason, for example; have a proposition for collaboration) and ask for customer section or marketing section. Do you propose and ask (wait) for the answer. You will have your answer if they will be attracted by your proposition.

My thought is that they Papa John's executives don't even know what Bitcoin is or if the have heard about it, they think this is a ponzi scam or a way to buy my drugs and arms on illegal markets.

We shouldn't concentrate on the others. We need to concentrate to deliver a finest possible product that will intrigue the others out there and then they will come to us, and not vice versa, us begging them to gives us a chance.

It should be some young PR employee, that is interested in crypto (bitcoin) and is creative enough and got good self esteem to present that idea to his higher-ups. Its hard task to pull out.

Epic comment
agree completely we shouldn't begging them to accept bitcoin as payment, if bitcoins adopted mainstream sooner or later the Papa John would accept bitcoin as payment, moreover they are a part of the greatest story the "Bitcoin Pizza"

In a sense it would be negative marketing for them. Imagine having the two most expensive pizza's being bought by someone and how much controversy that may bring.

Ot they could turn it on it's head with a new slogan " Papa John's pizza's are so good, people are willing to pay 5000 BTC for it " or they could launch a mega pizza and call it the

" Bitcoin Pizza "  Roll Eyes .... It all depends how you are looking at it.  Roll Eyes

Waste of a slogan, not enough people know what bitcoins are or the history or care to, they want a pizza for 8$ and maybe some cheesy bread. I think you guys are forgetting that Bitcoin is money and most people are very stupid with their money, a lot spend it as soon as possible. Papa Johns would only lose money with most of these suggestions.

The best idea is focus on improving Bitcoin, don't worry about merchant as all merchants do is instantly dump coins so it's the equivalent of selling btc to buy pizza when using.

yes, and papa john's need to focus on improving their pizza. its terrible. honestly. like a doughy greasy fake meat sugar-laden sauced cow flop. utterly disgusting. anyone who enjoys it must be so retarded that they will never understand btc, and anyone with any brains will only associate stomach ache with btc after seeing papa john touting it. papa's is a corporate entity and by nature it is anti-human, anti-freedom. they most likely hate the idea of btc, are in bed with the banks and cc companies.. wont go anywhere near btc until it is guaranteed to maximize their profit margin. thats all they care about.

why not try and sell btc to a company that has a soul and puts out decent product?

The guy that got the 10.000 BTC back then by delivering those famous pizzas (it was indeed a couple), im pretty sure it's still pretty broke since im just sure he forgot about Bitcoin, didn't even know exactly what Bitcoin was or how to securely store, mistakenly lost it, or sold when it was like 5 dollars thinking price was under an extreme bubble.
