I've done this with the core, is there a web based program to do this?  I know brainwallet could but it's offline now..

You can sign messages with blockchain.info. Addresses -> Actions -> Sign message

Never knew that there is that function. I'm just using the import/export function most of the time. Thanks for the info! You got to learn new tricks on old toys everyday. Smiley

Blockchain.info is good option but beware while verifying messages try to use same site from which you have signed message. I have similar issue when i try to verify message signed with blockchain in http://coinig.com/ , i got error.

Blockchain will be enough for both signing and verifying.
