pawel7777, you are hero and you should know that posting referral links is not allowed here in the forum.
You could leave a space that if anyone wants to help you then "pm me for the referral link".
Another suggestion is that if you make any good amount of bitcoin then share a little bit with you referrals Smiley (this increase your referral number)
This is a great news from British people, and i would like yo see more reviews from their users.

Suggestion for you - make a minimum effort to make sure you know what you're posting about. This thread is about bank (not faucet or exchange). They don't deal with bitcoin (at least for now), they don't pay in bitcoins, and I'm sure they wouldn't share referrals' details with referrers (Data Protection Act compliance).

That's a good news! Thanks for sharing! I wish more banks were like this one.

I'm wondering why they don't say they are Bitcoin friendly on the front page though. Are they ashamed of something?

We are currently not trading with Bitcoin, but this is something we hope to do in the future. As soon as we start accepting Bitcoin, we will announce this in the community.
That would be a first if they did. A few links that explain why they're Bitcoin friendly would be nice. Anyhow, it would be a first if a bank started accepting Bitcoin.

This really depends on who you ask. Some moderators might be against it and some might not (the link would probably just get removed in that case). However, this is not the to

Probably because they don't operate in BTC in any way and aim for wider audience than just bitcoiners. So any front page info could be confusing.

But I did email customer support and ask few questions, including:
"Could you confirm that you are officially 'Bitcoin - friendly'? Meaning that you will not close anyone's account simply because of transactions with Bitcoin exchanges?"

Their reply:
Quote
We currently do not trade with Bitcoin but this will happen in future, so we will be a Bitcoin friendly bank once this service launches.

Not exactly what I meant, but, if true, that would be a really big news.

Edit:
A few links that explain why they're Bitcoin friendly would be nice. Anyhow, it would be a first if a bank started accepting Bitcoin.

IIRC, their CEO declared Fidor to be BTC-friendly few years back. And they partnered-up with several BTC exchanges.

If it's a problem I'm sure mods will remove the ref link (I'm OK with that).

Mods can't edit posts AFAIK and it is in the (un)official rules of bitcointalk that any type of ref link is not allowed:
Quote
4. No referral code (ref link) spam. [1]
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0 . I don't see you spamming with your ref link , but it seems you created this entire post just to promote your ref. link, lastly shouldn't this be in service announcement/ press(not sure about the press option though)?
you are hero and you should know that posting referral links is not allowed here in the forum.

says the guy with a referral link in his footer.. 'pot, kettle, black'
That is allowed, and sigs' one of the purpose was to allow spread ref links

I don't see anything wrong with what the OP has typed. You're free to just ignore his thread.

Regarding the OP - I've never heard of Fidor bank/group, however any kind of bitcoin acceptance can only be viewed as positive imo.

I'm pretty sure they can edit posts. I've seen links removed by mods many times.

The post you're referring to is 'Unofficial' list of rules:
Quote
NOTE: This is meant to serve as a reference/educational/informational thread, NOT a rock solid list of rules

Ref links are often tolerated in some boards (if not total spam, or hidden etc). So I'll leave it for the mods to decide.

I know, sounds like they didn't quite understand my question. I'll try to chase them later and ask to clarify on that.

I don't think people are too concerned about that. They simply want a bank account that won't be closed down. It'll be interesting to see what businesses spring up if they do allow them accounts and we might finally get a viable exchange.

what it suppose to highlight is that if you linked your account to a bitcoin exchange such as bitstamp, localbitcoins, btc-e, etc... the bank wont flag you as dodgy just for linking to such bitcoin services

Good news for the UK bitcoin traders. It has been reported on few occasions that some of the major UK banks have been freezing/closing accounts because of bitcoin related transactions.

No need to worry anymore, officially Bitcoin-friendly Fidor bank has recently launched its UK operations. They offer free online current accounts (no monthly fees or minimum payments in), so it's perfect for transferring money to/from exchanges etc, or just as secondary account.

I've just registered with them and will give it a try. They don't do credit checks, but require verification by letter which can take up to 12 days. Currently they don't offer debit cards, but I emailed the customer support and they'll be launching cards soon.

Their UK 'branch' is for UK residents only. The main entity (Fidor AG) operates in Germany, not sure are they present in any other countries (I think not).
