Possible, but very stupid and a waste of time. The size would grow high eventually again and probably at a faster pace because we already have a lot of users. There are other options that are being explored and that will be implemented. If you have a problem with the current size for whatever reason, just do not use Bitcoin Core.

There are other implementations that supports larger blocks like bitcoin XT and bitcoin unlimited. You just have to run it on your CPU.

Yes, a stupid idea. There are no miracle solutions. Things take time and this will take time as well to get solved, but it will be solved. I have no doubt about it. Some smart people are working on Bitcoin.

All we need is to be patient and not bring any rushed decisions like you have just proposed, since these rushed decisions can be very costly.

Its my impression that this is what many alts claim. To be the better bitcoin, to have one (or more) flaw less here or there.

How do you suggest we start over anyway? Just hit the reset button and everyone loses all coins?

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

then try to create one that isn't a pure clone of bitcoin, with a very revoluzionary features, and not a copy past from github

right now every altcoin out there only offer few feature over bitcoin, but they are not groundbreaking

Satoshi knew that one day it would grow too large and we would need solutions based on data servers.
"Electrum is the future" basicly, since it already implements a good, secure light weight client.

He's saying that it's already too big and he wants it resetting to make it small again.

that was not my intention to talk about bitcoin alternative, just curious if it would be possible to start bitcoin from the block 1 again with same rewards and coin supply and then swap old coins with new ones

and from my point of view this will be in the lead, but that doesn't mean that the altcoin market will be useless.

dont worry im pretty sure that bitcoin will grow up, i mean about features and improvements.

to go back to a genesis block and start from block 1. but also keeping bitcoins chain alive to allow for swaps.. is what altcoins are about..

there are many many altcoins using bitcoins genesis block code, just without all the tx history.

as i said starting from fresh, from block 0 is an altcoin..
BUT.... the bitcoin devteam have been looking into 'pruning' which is to remove tx's/blocks with no valid/current transaction data.

The Bitcoin block size doesn't continually grow over time automatically.  It grows when more transactions are made in that 10-minute (avg) period.  If the world took a break creating transactions for an hour, we'd see six very tiny blocks created.
