I'm using windows 7 with the current version of bitcoin client.    when i start bitcoind.exe a blank box shows up.  Nothing else happens.
when i go to close it,  i get a message saying bitcoind has stopped responding.    Are there any files I might be missing to use bitcoind?
Thanks.

Bitcoind is a version without GUI also know as a Daemon. Run regular Bitcoin instead.

I recall earlier this year that p2pool couldn't use bitcoin-qt as a server due to freezes/crashes so you had to use bitcoind.

Lately I've been using bitcoin-qt as a server with p2pool without problems.

You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.

tried saving the conf file to a txt   and then back to conf   with no luck.    Tried dropping the -server part and still the same error.
for some reason its not recognizing my .conf file   I'm the administrator  and run bitcoind as admin still doesnt help.
