Fidor is the first Bitcoin friendly UK bank!

It's a simple process to open an account, but takes a few days to fund as they are not part of the Faster payment system yet!

Open an account here:

https://www.fidorbank.uk/

Questions!

Who are Fidor and are they really a Bitcoin friendly bank?

Read the articles below and you will see they are pro bitcoin. I know a bank being pro bitcoin feels wrong at the deepest level, but I've got past that and so can you!

Seems like a good bank and it is Bitcoin friendly BUT...

It is a German bank and now with UK branch or incorporated bank.

I just registered but cannot open an account as it requires UK residency.

Cool, a shame about faster payments not being accepted.  If they are accepted in the future this will be a plus as I know that Coinbase do accept faster payments, I wonder what the fees are if they are lower than this could be a winner for the UK.

If you're based in a Euro Country drop me a line as I can send and accept SEPA no problem. I only deal in trades over £2000 for SEPA though!

So anyone going to take me on up my 0.2 btc offer?  Wink

Does it have to be a new account? I would transfer money from my german fidor account, if that's possible.

So after a few months. How is your relationship with Fidor? Have they not had a problem with your volume? Are they ok with you running a business through a personal account?

I'm a UK resident (have a visa and everything) but don't have a UK passport so fidor automatic authentication didn;t work. Hope they will approve it manually!

I don't know about transfers to bitcoin.de, but the Kraken exchange uses a Fidor bank account and can arrange fast transfers to other Fidor bank accounts. Although the first transaction can take a long time because it has to do extra checks, it says transactions after the first the are processed very quickly.

https://support.kraken.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002732067-Fidor-Fidor-deposits-and-withdrawals

According to BiteMyShinyMetalAss they charge £2.5 for a SEPA transfer.

Fidor bank! SEPA transfer only 2.5 £, however you cant receive SEPA yet... Sad

Do you mean is Fidor bank still in existence? Yes. it started as a German bank, but now has a UK arm too. If you read the Kraken thread there are plenty of UK traders still using Fidor. Although the kraken seems to have a big backlog of support tickets I didn't read any complaints about Fidor bank itself.
