Rule number one , if you care about your privacy use different addresses for each transaction .
Now some people use addresses on their profiles but it's most likely Vanitygen so they have other adresses that you definitly don't know about . I personally don't see what's the issue if you post different addresses you are fine .

it's perfectly okay, and, most of the time, necessary. nobody can send you btc without knowing your address.

But there are a few topics starting off with: "Tip me at: xyz"
That just doesn't seem right to me

I care of my privacy. So i don't like to put my bitcoin address everywhere. And this expose that address is belongs to me (when someone found that address on any big transaction).

I don't really care about that since im using xapo Roll Eyes
It creates a new Address for each new transaction
So i should be safe with it Smiley

I don't. I personally should call it begging. If you put it at the end of a helpful post (more than 20+ lines) then it's okay, you spent time with it.
But srsly don't put it at 2 lines of text

I don't mind. If you're concerned about privacy/security just use different addresses for different purposes.

Yes it's okay if someone wants to put thier bitcoin address in profile, signature and below avatars  (personal text) then they can and it will be benefit for them also as that address can someday help them recover their bitcointalk account if in case they lose their account because of forgotton password/hack...They can simply sign the message via the address on the profile to prove the ownership Smiley

I'm starting to think that you're shitposting.
give us at least 5 examples and I will apologize for thinking so. I haven't seen much of that kind of posts.

most of the time I see that is in lender section and giveaway threads, where it is necessary to post your address.

i totally agree with you it is not a problem to put address where it is necessary, but just check where are you inserting your address, because some sites will check your account by your address.

there is a thread for it called "Stake your BTC Address". The concept is that you post your address, and another user quotes it, so if your account is hacked, they couldn't edit the address

I don't want to say names of those people, but they are easy to find, especially posting in the services and the gambling sections. Again, I'll not post links to their profiles.

Those 2 lines was just an example for "short and meaningless posts"

its a no-brainer to put your address here, when i first came here i was basically told to do it (its on my profile page now)

i have a blog and its there, its on my facebook and twitter too

i haven't received a single donation yet (just one gift here when i joined) but im still leaving my addy all around just in case. at the very least it could start conversations!

everyone should do it. its better than change tip or bit pay or any those 3rd party apps. clean simple and cool

I don't believe you. I'm not seeing any posts that have the user's address included in it when it is UNnecessary.
proof me wrong.

edited to add the bolded part.

Weel, you think that, personal opinion. And I'm not talking about escrowers. It's normal that they accept tips

I don't like this behavior. For more safety and secure we  have to use more than fixed address  in our transactions, and posting our address in each post or signature can't be good idea in my opinion, unless you make some "free" services for people and you guess they will send tips for you
