Mycelium offers variety of features, including cold storage spending which allows users to spend coins on paper wallets with minimal risk of getting hacked. They also recently launched Mycelium traders which allows users to trade Bitcoin locally.

Whenever I heard someone seeks an Android wallet, well there's always one name that pop ups to my mind and its no other than mycelium Wink All I can say its simply the best wallet for Android and if you're looking for more details of its wonderful feature, just check on their site https://mycelium.com/

I confirm as well, don't look no more, just download mycelium.

That's actually one of the Bitcoin applications that you can proudly show to anybody that you introduce Bitcoin too. It's that awesome and well made.

You should also look at Andreas Schildbach's wallet (available from the app store) to compare features and characteristics.
On the spot I can't find docs on how it manages blockchain access (Mycelium uses dedicated servers for that) but you might have more time than me to look around...

I will suggest Mycelium like what others have said. Also coinbase have an app also available on the appstore. He blockchain client is not really on my list becuase you will be needing a pc to access your wallet in it if wver you accidentaly lost access on it in your app.

Mycelium Wallet is really a popular bitcoin wallet in Android. You can use it as a cold storage and also you have an option of signing your btc address there. You hold your private keys here and don't forget to backup it in case your phone got bricked and only formatting the phone's data is the only solution.

Use Bitcoin Wallet for Android by Andreas Schildbach. It's the best out here. You can get tech support here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=100.0

Bitcoin wallet can look like core mostly due to its color scheme, it doesn't operate in the same way. Bitcoin wallet connects to different nodes to get information just like multibit and most spv clients. It is impossible to get the entire blockchain on it due to the fact that there is limited computing power and space.

It has moved to hierarchical deterministic instead of the unlinked previous private key generation. (CMIMW)

For people new to Bitcoin, I recommend Airbitz.

Mycelium is very good, but it is less user-friendly than Airbitz.

I have 2 apps in my Android associated with my web wallets (blockchain.info & coinbase).
Both have nice features such bar code scanner..
With coinbase you can transfer your whole balance without paying fees and you can use their vault too.
But i still prefer my 1st used one: blockchain.info in which i can adjust the fee i want, manage easily multiple addresses...
(tried for one day mycelium & wallet Android but personally didn't like both)
Ofc it depends with the money that you want to deposit there, if it is high then preferably you get to use a cold one.

I think that it is not harmless to check every Mobile wallet features, give a try for few of them... in order to find the best one for you.

It is harmless, as long as you remember you're actually working with a currency, and not "play" money... Don't put a lot of BTC on a mobile wallet, especially one that is not very trusted amongst the community Wink

For personal uses, I use Bitcoin Wallet by Andreas Schildbach. It's been a great app for me for over a year now and so far it didn't gave me any problems. Functionality and security is a plus in that wallet, too. Smiley

I use the same wallet on my android.  I don't trust 3rd parties like Mycellium, I want a "real" wallet that doesn't require you to put any trust in an outside party.
